Why all the Nicky-hatin (from RR or anyone else)?

I'm not sure what anyone finds so offensive about the guy. He's a great rider, seems polite, grateful, sincere, accountable, and represents his team, family (and the USA) well, in a very non-ugly-American sort of way (unlike Edwards, IMO).

Is it because there is a feeling that he underachieves for the position he's in on the factory Honda team? As has been said many times, by just about everyone, Rossi is the best rider in the world, probably GreatestOfAllTime (GOAT). So why is it offensive to want a nice kid from Kentucky to win the championship and do well? I know I'm a bit partial because he and his brothers are friends of my sister's kids (also from Owensboro), but still, I just don't get it.

All this season I've wanted Rossi to win because of the incredible adversity he's had to face... crashes, DNFs, injury. It's exciting to watch a new record being set or insurmountable odds being, um, mounted.

I like Nicky, I just like Rossi more. Either outcome would be an amazing victory at this point. And either racer will have earned it.
