Kids. This is motorsports, not a ****ing track meet. It is a TEAM sport. ...this isn't a one man show? Those are actual people in the paddocks wearing team uniforms and not paid actors?

i personally think phuck head and hayden should run a few laps head to head. Kind of a showdown between the two of them. winner of the race will be the teams front runner loser the support rider..

barry sheen always #7, always remembered as such..

if yamaha marketing are pist that rossi is stil #46, then agv n dianese are gonna be litagation-tastic if he changes..

Rossi's # is important to him (sure u know why) & IMHO it's a comendable sign of his personality that he wont change it..

all those yam mechanics etc, with their yellow #46 team shirts.. EVERYONE knows who they work for & they undoutably wear them with pride

Those mechanics and engineers are working long after their rider is done banging the umbrella girls, and are back in the morning before he drags himself out of bed. When the rider crashes, or isn't on the pace, they'll frequently be pulling all-nighters. And their pay is often for **** compared to what they'd get outside the team.

But hey, I guess every rider who gives mad props to their TEAM doesn't know what in the hell they're talking about either.

Totally agree, but how does running the #1 plate give them any more recognition than that yamaha shirt with the #46 on the back?

That's been the most recognizable number in MC racing for a number of years... I don't see how sporting the #1 would make any of his team happier. If I was part of it, it sure wouldn't matter to moi.

Rossi wears #46 for marketing reasons. Just like any NASCRAP champion. I like to think "we" are better than that, but of course we aren't.

The winner of a motorcycle race series wins the #1 plate. Not the Winston Cup (or whatever their current sponsor's name is). It is a long standing, time honored tradition.

I seriously doubt Nick would wear #1 too BTW. But none of the knuckle draggers bothered to ask about that...they were too busy with unintelligible diatribes.

In motorcycle racing, the champion wears #1. Period.

Maybe it was because I wasn't working for Rossi, but working with a rider that wore #1, and didn't, I preferred pushing the bike to tech with #1 on it.

Guess I'm just old school...

See...there it is, right there. Rossi's team is champ. That team includes Yamaha corporate, all his mechanics and engineers, everyone back at their race design shops, all those people won the championship. Not just Rossi.
