From the new Jan/Feb edition of RRX

I was reading through the Jan/Feb issue of RoadRacer X, and on page 70... along with most of the mag being about Nicky Hayden, the photo of him kneeling down next to his bike (which was being held up by a track worker I believe) and someone next to Hayden as well... the American flag which Hayden carried on his "victory lap" was allowed to fall onto the ground carelessly.

I was very dissappointed by this, and surely hope that maybe in the future it won't and atleast someone could hold it while someone celebrate's or whatever they choose to do.
Granted now, most here don't care, won't care or don't feel that its wrong to lay, drop or whoopsie our american flag onto dirt, asphault or anything else similar.
My military point of view I guess. Don't get me wrong, I am a big Nicky fan, and I am sure that he had the flag resting on his gp bike, and had no intentions of putting on the ground... but to allow it to fall onto the ground and not have it picked up, was very saddening.
I guess that photo caught more then just the joy of victory. I can only imagine that nearly every other country shares the same respect their flag stands for, even if its mearly nothing.

I Hear ya and understand you concern, but dont you think that if the flag was resting on his bike and the fact that if did fall to the ground had nothing to do with dishonoring or disrespecting the flag. The photo could have been taken before the flag was picked up. I'm sure the photographer saw an opportunity to capture a great photo shot for his magazine and took it before the moment was over and probably didnt notice the flag either...
