| Jerez: 2nd Free Practice JEREZ, March 23 (Reuters) - Spaniards Carlos Checa, Dani Pedrosa and Toni Elias were quickest in the second free practice session on Friday for the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez.
It was also a one-two-three for the Honda teams with Checa coming out on top with a lap time of 1:40.851, followed closely by race favourite Pedrosa, and Elias.
The winner of the MotoGP season-opener in Qatar two weeks ago, Australian Casey Stoner, came in fourth on a Ducati.
Five-times world champion Valentino Rossi was fifth fastest while defending champion Nicky Hayden was 13th.
American Kenny Roberts Jr set the pace in the morning practice with a lap time of 1:41.182. Both sessions took place in clear, sunny conditions.
It was also a good day for the Spaniards in the 250cc class as defending champion Jorge Lorenzo took provisional pole on an Aprilia, with Hector Barbera third quickest. Italian Marco Simoncelli was second with compatriot Roberto Locatelli fourth.
Italian Mattia Pasini took provisional pole on an Aprilia in the 125cc class, in front of the morning's pacestter Hungarian Gabor Talmacsi, Japan's Tomoyoshi Koyama and Czech Lukas Pesek.
