Mladin on Top

Mladin did a double again to take the championship lead by 3 points over Spies. WOW! What a dramatic last round it'll be at Laguna! AMA this year has been very entertaining to watch, and has me looking forward to each next round...unlike MotoGP where Stoner continues grab easy wins.
I am cheering for the old man to take the AMA title, and hoping to see young Spies a seat on a MotoGP bike. Are there any available?

Re: Mladin on Top

The last round will be very interesting, but I'm going to have to disagree with you, to a certain extent, on how interesting AMA Superbike has been.

I think the rest of the manufacturer's, our beloved Honda included, really need to present a better machine to hang with the Yosh Suzuki team. It's obvious Spies and Mladin are really good, but to see Spies wreck from second place at the beginning of the race, get the red flag, restart in the back, and then take back second only a little time later is just ridiculous.

Like I said, I know they are phenomenal riders, but c'mon. As far as I'm concerned, Supersport has been the one to watch. A whole smattering of riders and manufacturers have had a good shot at the title and who'll take it will be interesting to see.

I'm with you on wanting to see Mladin win it. I think his style is a bit more entertaining to watch and you can tell he really wants it. And as far as Spies going to GP, I know Hopkins is leaving the Rizla Suzuki team and I believe they have already replaced him, but I believe I read in Roadracing World they may be looking to run a third bike, if only in a few races. Who knows?

We'll see what happens with AMA in Laguna this time around.

I think the real reason that nobody is competing with Suzuki on the liter level is simple. Suzuki has shown that they are not conserned with one-upsmanship at any cost (Read dead 16 year olds). I think that Yamaha and Honda have made their decision based on the USA's lack of tiered licensing. And since Suzuki and Kawi got together, they are the only two that have come out with even more powerful, albeit straight liners, "Kings of the hill."
The all new Hya-bya

I have to totally agree with your disagreement. The series really need more competitive riders/bikes than yoshimura suzukis and their boys. My personal favorate bikes being Honda and Yamaha's, there has been really no excitement other than 'is it Spies or Mladin.'

The supersport is certainly more interesting. If I may, I would compare Spies and Mladin race to a fight between a good skilled grapplers, where as the supersport racing is simply a good old fist/kicking brawl, which is sometimes much more entertaining than calculated, strategic grappling match.
