Rossi Switching To Bridgestone In 2008

An official announcement has been made by Yamaha in Valencia, confirming that Valentino Rossi will run the YZR-M1 on Bridgestone rubber in 2008, with Rossi’s Fiat Yamaha team-mate to continue using Michelin tyres.

Rossi has admitted that he first pushed to drop Michelin after his bad performance in the Laguna Seca round of the MotoGP at the end of July.

Rossi and Lorenzo will have to have two separate pits due to their tire company differences. I don't think I've ever seen two different tires used by a single team.

Yea that is a big change to have one team have to run 2 different pits because of tires. I wonder how thats going to work out for them this year

Does this mean he has to step up and win next year? Or make the switch to Ducati in 09 if Casey serves him up another beating..

I think he should have never left HONDA.Yes he did proof a point by winning the following year on Yamaha but since then it looks like he has more problems then winnings.

He certainly will be out of excuses if he doesn't step up next year. He's been complaining about Yamaha all year though... Perhaps that'll be his excuse. In any case, he's got a lot on his shoulders to prove that he can still win championships.

haha yea on the surface they are black and round but the battle between tire makers is insane these days. With propriety technology for each tire and the setups for those tires its not surprising they are making them use different pits.

I think that with the number 1 Yamaha team running two different tires will cause some problems in parts develop of the bikes. One thing may help one bike and hurt the other. I think Yamaha is going to have their hands full in 08 season.
