Traction Control Moto GP

Since the single spec tire for Moto GP is a thing of the past now, the next issue they'll be dealing with is traction control. Are you for it or against it? My feeling is remove it totally. The skill of each rider and his ability to control his throttle, especially last lap racing for the flag, sets him apart. He must learn to control urges and take care of his tires so they last. The other side says it's the highest form of racing representing everything technology has to offer. It's a bit of an equalizer and also the safety factor of lessening deadly highsides.
Another option might be for Moto GP to control the ECU's, and have all teams with equal traction control.

Re: Traction Control Moto GP

It's called prototype racing for a reason, it is the HIGHEST form of racing. It is about the complete package, rider, bike, tires, electronics. The sooner they perfect it on the GP bikes the sooner it will be a low cost option that makes its way to street bikes which is definitely a good thing.

Moto GP bikes without traction control would be silly...

Re: Traction Control Moto GP

if you let the manufacturers compete at making a great traction control we are going to see a better product on the street, moto gp is good racing either way factor in the safety aspects as well and its a great thing, and moto gp cant control it because that takes away from the competition to make things better on the bikes traction control wise.

Re: Traction Control Moto GP

Fundamentally, I love the idea of the rider being the deciding factor and therefore I'm for no traction control.

But on the flip side, I love MotoGP for the fact that is pure, money driven, best-tech racing. That is to say, those with the best technology the wherewithal to implement tend to be the winners. And by that line of thinking, traction control would be a no brainer. And coupled with the fact that the sooner it trickles down to street machines, the better.

Even still, I would like to see it stay out of racing - or at least until they calm this tire issue down a little and level it out for a few years.
