Casey Stoner Low Flying Again at Jerez

MotoGP - At the Jerez qualifying session Casey Stoner set the pace and picked up a new BMW for his efforts. In 5 laps he was able to put more than a 3 second lead in Rossi. Nicky Hayden and Rossi were the closest, Rossi using Bridgestone tyres was still 1.3 seconds off Stoner's pace at the end of the session.

No kidding. New bike and all and the Duc has over a second on the rest of the field. What's with that?

Nicky was fastest over the test. day one was in the 138s and day 4, finished in the 138s. Nobody else got into 138s.
The BMW test was in wet conditions. And Hayden (not known for wet condition riding) was third. The midget's broken hand was Nicky's saviour. It forced Honda to give Hayden the good parts.

Right on nedro. Went back and read the whole thing on Soup. That's much better. This may be Nicky's year again as this new bike fits him much better and I can't see Honda having Nicky as the B rider. Nobody cares for Pedrosa except for all the chicks. He's a sponsors nightmare compared to Nicky in front of the camera who is so much more likeable. Hey, it's big business and it's probably going to depend on which one of them starts to perform better early in the season. Go NICKY !

I don't really care who is better as long it's on a Honda.

Confidence within yourself, is a powerful advantage! Especially with the power of that Ducati! Stoner is a confident rider now. Sete and Max were great riders too, but lacked the confidence to run with Rossi. Vale had them beat most days, before the lights went out! Casey is confident and strong mentally. I believe thats was why he left Jerez early. No need to stick around. Mission accomplished early. Last year was huge for him! He had a great bike and the confidence to run with Rossi. Nicky has that confidence and mental toughness also! He was the first to show that Rossi is indeed, human! lol I agree that Nicky is getting the goods with Dani being out. A blessing in disguise. Honda would be foolish to act as if Nicky is the B rider on that team! Many of the new guys rode well at Jerez also! I dont see a runaway for anyone this year. Keep this in mind as well. Colin has less pressure on him now that he is on the B squad. I think he is going to have his best season. Cant wait for the season opener, a night race!!!

Nice post, I think it's going to be interesting this year to hear what Rossi has to say to the press. Tyres? um no we've done that one now, bike? yes it must the the bike, or is it the accountants fault?

You do have a valid point. I still think if Rossi is given the "goods" then he can and will ride the hell out of that Yamaha.

Re: Casey Stoner Low Flying Again at Jerez

Thanks. Rossi has since moved back to Italy. His financial woes are behind him now. Im sure having to pay $50 million had some affect on his racing last season. I sure he was doing the math on the last lap of races... finish 1st, $100 grand, but $50 grand to the government! Oh crap, just lowsided! lol With a clear mind, his weakest link will be the Yamaha this year. With his talent, the Yamaha just has to be close. Im sure they will give him a better package than what he had last year.
