| How high did his boot really fly??? WOW! For those that saw the Phillip Island round of the World Superbike Series this weekend... At the start of race 1, when that Duc rider, starting in 3rd on the first row, stalled his bike, was it just me or was that his boot that got launched like a rocket out of the picture??? That guy was sooo lucky he was able to walk away from that! Unfortunately, the guy on the Kaw that hit him wasnt able to walk away. I believe he broke his leg!
Visions of Scott Russell stalling his bike years ago at the start of a race passed thru my mind, because Scott wasnt so lucky. He retired because of injuries from that accident. The good news about Scott is that he will be racing again this week, I believe on Thursday, in the Superstock race at Daytona! Congrats to him!
Before and during the entire time I have been racing, its has always been stressed, that if you stall on the grid at the start of a race, dont move! Stay where you are, get your legs tight to the bike and get your hands up and waving! Scott tried to get off the track and got blasted by a guy that was way back on the grid. The Duc rider from this weekend, stayed on the bike, did not move the bike, but turned around to look behind him! He got clipped by two guys at the same time, and thank God he was only clipped, then got blasted from behind by the Kaw.
Thankfully, that was not a direct hit, but very close to one! When they showed the view from behind the grid, the stalled rider looked just like the other riders. By the time the Kaw realized he wasnt moving, he only had enough time to swerve, to not make it a direct hit! I can see how getting tight to the bike and waving your arms would have given a vision to the riders behind him, to avoid me! That was scary!
I am not sure why they waited so long to throw the red flag. That should have been done immediately. There was a bike dead center on the track, along with debris, and a rider and bike down, only a few feet from the edge of the track. That should have been an immediate red flag. Instead, it seems they threw the red flag 3/4th thru that first lap and another crash happened as a result of that. Hopefully, the race directors look at that situation as a learning experience and thankfully there were no life threatening injuries... |

| Re: How high did his boot really fly??? WOW! that was pretty rough. I don't know why the guy didn't get his hands up to alert the riders behind him.
The Biaggi one was pretty rough to watch. happened so fast but once you saw the bike up in the air over him it got scary. he's an asshole but I don't wanna see anyone get hurt.
and the almost highside from Corser made me cringe for a second. I thought he was gonna get some serious air there but managed to save it with some skill and a lot of luck.

| Re: How high did his boot really fly??? WOW! Original crash? I will assume you mean the one of the Superbike race from this past weekend. The Online Motorsports Authority. NASCAR, Formula 1, Auto Racing, Moto Racing, Cars, Bikes, PINKS and more! - SPEEDtv.com On the left side of this home page, half way down the page, they hav a little video section. Click on the little bar that says "zoom and more videos." Then scroll down thru the video list for the Phillip Island WSB races, when this window pops up. Click on the little video of the Superbike racing. It shows this crash. If you are talking about the Scoot Russell crash, I have no idea how to find that one...
Yes, Biaggi is an arrogant butthole. I am glad he did not get hit by his bike. It was scary for a moment. But he is still riding with the ghost of Rossi on his clip-ons! LOL The guy raced as though it was the last race of the year and he had to win, to win the championship! He rode with no brains! He could have been in a great position right now towards the championship. I think he just lost any chance he may have had for the championship this year! He surely had a competitive bike! Im not pulling for him anyway. The Ten Kate boys are getting better! All of them, considering their circumstances, are improving, and thats really all you can ask for right now. I think all 3 of them will be running up front soon!
Corser can not afford to make mistakes like he did. He has to win or place as high as he can, every weekend! Consistancy wins championships. Nicky proved 2 years ago, you dont have to win races to win the title! Looking forward to the MotoGP start this weekend!

| Re: How high did his boot really fly??? WOW! carlos checa was good last weekend. i must say he surprised me. i was expecting more from sofouglu then from checa. ten kate team didn't have enought time to test bikes and to practice on new bikes so they are really good. |

| Re: How high did his boot really fly??? WOW! Checa has alot of experience. With all those years racing the 500's and then MotoGP, he brings alot to a great team! Kiyonari was the British Superbike Champion last year. He has been on a superbike for a few years now. Kenan only lacks the experience of riding a superbike. He showed last year, he has the talent. The more he rides the superbike, the better he is going to get. It will be a learning year for him, but I think he will be up front midseason.
Ten Kate is a very good team! All the championships they have won, prove that. Honda makes some great bikes! I recently read an article about the Ten Kate team and WOW, they have it figured out! They are the definition of what a team truly is! Everyone on the same page, working towards the same goal, with the same passion to whoop ass and take names! |

| Re: How high did his boot really fly??? WOW! He was in a ready position before the lights went out. Weight over the tank. Bike in gear, revs up, clutch pulled in. So what are the possibilities? What gear was he in? Was he in gear? I think clutch related stall because he was ready to go when the lights went out... |

| Re: How high did his boot really fly??? WOW! I saw it a bunch of times on Speed today and WOW that boot really did launch. To bad that after that Speed started cutting in and out and I didn't get to actually see any racing. That's two days in a row that it has done that that here. Every other channel was working fine, just something with Speed.

| Re: How high did his boot really fly??? WOW! He is so lucky that part of his leg didnt go with his boot! Im sure for the next race, in the riders meeting, they will cover what to do if that happens again. I got that glitch also while watching the races. I watched them on Sunday. Im happy that nothing was goofy when the Supersport race came on! What a great race that was! |
