1.Stoner - He wins with ease
2.Hayden - Passes Rossi for second place on the final lap
3.Rossi - Off the pace by his own standards but still hangs on for a podium

Hayden didn't even make the list in the last motogp pole on their website for who you think will win the first round.
Stoner
Rossi
Pedrosa after sending Hayden into the sand on the final lap.

Interesting development. Hayden is going to ride the '07 bike.

Nicky Hayden will run on 2007 RC212V in the first race - Top Speed#

Its nice to know that Honda is listening to Nicky. But what the @%#*!!! How is it that Honda is completely lost, just hours before the first race of the season!!! Amazing that they are flying in last years bikes! Oh boy! On the bright side, its a bike that Nicky is familiar with, so his comfort level will be higher.

When was the last time you could say...Honda dropped the ball at the start of this season....

Re: Step Up For The First Round - MotoGP 2008

First and foremost, I hope its a great competitive race! The rookies this year have shown the speed to run fast times, but race pace is a different story... I think the colder temps at night, with regards to the tires, is going to level the playing field, like a wet weather race would. I have not a clue, LOL, so here goes...

1. Rossi
2. Stoner
3. Edwards
4. Lorenzo
5. Hayden

Gonna be quite tight this year I think, with the exception of Stoner who will bugger off into the distance

1 Stoner
2 Lorenzo
3 Rossi
4 Pedrosa
5 Toseland
6 Hayden
7 Edwards
8 Dovizioso
9 Vermulen
10 Capirossi

Re: Step Up For The First Round - MotoGP 2008

Well after last nights free practice I'm gonna have to stick to my earlier prediction for the race....but I gotta say.....

They can all forget it......that Ducati is soooooo fast.

I was impressed with Lorenzo....maybe the 250 style needed for the 800's means he doesn't have to work as hard as if it was 990.

WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH HONDA??????????????? I'M LOST FOR WORDS. they were out on the 07 then the 08 bike etc etc...crazy crazy situation.

What the hell happened when Pedrosa came off????? I still couldn't make it out in the replays....did Rossi roll off???

Toseland was brilliant....pity he doesn't have more speed in that engine...he rode really well. Never expected him to go that well at any session.

Roll on tonight....roll on Sunday night

I watched it over and over again.
Rossi kept a tight line to the end. It looks like Danni was pinning it and letting his bike drift outside to see how much speed he could carry. If you look at the first two seconds of the replay on MotoGP, you will see him get lower and start going outside quickly. Even see some sparks before impact. I'm not sure he would've made the turn even if Rossi had not been there.
The reaction from Rossi was hilarious. Like 5 or so years ago when Max got on the podium after an altercation and had a scratch on his face, "I think a mosquito bit me."

Ok tipsters the Jerez thread is up for the 2nd round. A fireblades T-shirt is up for grabs so best of luck to you. If you post first and guess right you take the prize.
