Re: MotoGP - AMA Superbike Comparo

I think that we are in for a treat in a year or so when the Daytona Management Group gets the gears rolling from AMA. Sure I don't think AMA could ever be as prestigious as MotoGp. Why would it. MotoGp is in it's own class.

I love motogp news. They have a great sense of humor, some of their past articles are hilarious. I agree with the overall idea in this article, AMA superbike is a joke but I disagree with some of their specific points. Their spelling errors drive me nuts. The worst by far being "dear" rather than "deer."

Re: MotoGP - AMA Superbike Comparo

Comparing AMA Superbike to Nascar is ridiculous. I don't think AMA Superbike is much different than any Superbike series. Nobody like seeing Suzuki dominate but that's tough. I'm sure Honda and the others are working their butts off trying to kick Suzuki's ass but they can't make it happen. It's still great racing in my books.
The one thing I do have issue with is using the FX bikes in the Daytona 200. They should only be using Superbikes and just change the layout a little more so the high speed on the steep banks is reduced somewhat more than it is. I also don't believe it's a Dunlop only problem. I don't think any other tire manufacturer would touch Daytona with a 10 foot pole. The demand on the tire is just too great in the current track layout. The riders might as well just race the Isle of Man because your chances of survival would be about the same.

They (suzuki) don't have the same success in WSBK though. The rules on engine internals is different enough that it is tough to build a homologated bike that is good for both. I think the other manufacturers put more emphasis on WSBK and build their bikes to best fit the engine rules for WSBK.

Right on slickwill. That's why I think the rules should all be the same for any Superbike series including WSBK. Easier to compare apples to apples. That was also evident with Ducati winning in WSB and not having much success in AMA to the point they dropped out. That's not good for anybody. When AMA Superbike and WSBK were at Laguna together, there was a fuel difference to do with oxygen in the fuel. I think AMA allowed a certain amount but WSB did not allow oxygenated fuels or vice versa.
