Nicky Hayden Will Take First Motorcycle Lap Of New Indianapolis Road Course Aboard A Restored 1909 Indian

2006 MotoGP World Champion Hayden To Ride April 7 At IMS

2006 MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden will visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time Monday, April 7 as he prepares for the inaugural Red Bull Indianapolis GP on Sunday, Sept. 14.

Hayden will ride a restored Indian motorcycle, which competed Aug. 14, 1909 in the first motorized race at IMS, around the new infield road course at 10:30 a.m. It will be the first lap by a motorcycle around the new 16-turn, 2.620-mile circuit that also incorporates part of the famed IMS oval.

After the historic first lap on the Indian, Hayden will ride a Honda production bike around the course, be available for photos on the famous Yard of Bricks and speak with the media in the Economaki Trackside Conference Room.

Hayden, a native of Owensboro, Ky., is one of three American riders competing this season in MotoGP. He races for the Repsol Honda Team

Please, even though I agree that the competition is very strong this year, Hayden is still hungry for another Championship!!

I think its only fair to give the first lap to the Youngest rider to ever win a MotoGP Championship!!

Yes, it is a pretty cool site. The Experiance is my blog. I got to make a lap on my 999R Xerox between Hayden's practice laps. Very cool track layout.

Wow I am drueling with envy,,,I am trying to get a bunch of us together for Sept 14th I cant wait to see that track and its alot closer to me than Cali, and it would be nice just to say I was there for the first ever motogp race at Indy!!!

Thats an awesome blog, love the pic of Nicky with the Red/white & blue 1000RR and all I can say is I envy you! Oh well some dream and some do,,,today I am just a dreamer,,,and hopefully in Sept I will be there. Its funny years ago it was always no money and I always had the time,,now its I have the money but never enough time,,,lol . Oh well thats life I guess. Thanks again!
