Nicky Hayden & Dani Pedrosa On Jerez

2008 Jerez MotoGP

Nicky Hayden: "Qatar wasn't a great weekend for us but we'll be working hard to move on from that at Jerez. Our bike should work good at Jerez and in the past the Michelin tyres have worked really good there. I think it's a cool track and it's not a top-speed track. I like tracks where you've got to put sections together, and Jerez all flows together pretty good. The atmosphere is pretty cool - you come into the stadium section [the Nieto and Peluqui turns] on Sunday morning and it's wild. Nowadays you can design a racetrack on the computer, you can do whatever you want - make that, generate this, design that - you can use every trick in the book, but if the place don't have that atmosphere, money can't buy that. It's a good track and one of my favourites."

Dani Pedrosa: "I've been training since Qatar to get back to full strength and I hope my right hand should be 100 per cent at Jerez. It's a very important race for me and I really enjoy it. What I like most about racing at Jerez is the huge crowd and the great atmosphere. The track is quite safe, though it could be improved in a few areas. There are a few bumps too, though not too many, and the tarmac offers good grip. Top speed doesn't matter too much at Jerez. But you need a very well balanced chassis that allows you to brake hard and tackle both fast and slow corners. It's a circuit that requires quite an aggressive riding style."

Bring it on I say!

Oh boy. First training and Lorenzo ahead of Rossi, Edwards, Hayden, Pedrosa, and Stoner... Difference between Lorenzo and Stoner .5 second.

Lorenzo has it going on. I'm going to take Jorge.

I think Nicky said things a little better than Dani. Maybe things got lost in translation though.

Re: Nicky Hayden & Dani Pedrosa On Jerez

Colin Edwards was fastest on day 1 Free Practice. Is the Texas Tornado Back???
Free Practice Session 1
1. Edwards
2. Stoner
3. Rossi
4. Hayden
5. Lorenzo
Only the top 3 were in the 1:40s Check this out! From 4th to 14th place, all these riders were in the 1:41s!

Free Practice Session 2
1. Lorenzo
2. Rossi
3. Edwards
4. Hayden
5. Pedrosa
Top 7 riders in the 1:40s. 8th to 15th riders in the 1:41s.

I think this race may look like a biggie size 125 race!

Nicky has 2 bikes he is riding. One is the same chassis that Pedrosa had at the first race, with some mods done to it. The other one, who know??? He does like Jerez though.

I say IF Lorenzo gets dialed in soon. He'll win it all!

Re: Nicky Hayden & Dani Pedrosa On Jerez

I reckon its still way too early for whos going to win it all talk. This circuit is not about top speed. Look at how everyone though Rossi was back after walking away with this one!!!! Its going to be a few races before we see any bit of a picture this season!!!

What of Hondas new engine!!! Anyone know for sure when we get to see it in action?

Re: Nicky Hayden & Dani Pedrosa On Jerez

The new engine is still a few races away. Nickys problems so far seem to have been riding an 08 chassis, with the 07 engine in it. The new chassis wasnt designed for the 07 engine. He did learn some things before that first race, with the 08 chassis. So what they did, was modified the 07 chassis for that race. I guess he would have finished much farther back if it were not for the changes that were made. There is a article on this at Speedtv., in the Motogp section...
