MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi has agreed to a one-off Superbike race against Troy Bayliss, according to reports in Spain.

Troy Bayliss has revealed he’s tempted by the gauntlet thrown down by MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi for a one off race on Superbikes in 2009, but he’d need a lot of money to do it.
Bayliss who retired after the final round of the WSB championship, as a three-time world champion believes Rossi would have no problem getting up to speed on a Superbike and is flattered by the Italian’s desire to race him.
Speaking exclusively to MCN from his home in Monaco, Bayliss said:
“I spoke with Valentino and he told me that he wants to race me really badly! It wouldn’t be so hard for him to be competitive on a Superbike, Yamaha have got a strong bike so it would no problem at all for him to get up to speed. Valentino Rossi is Valentino Rossi.
“For me right now I’ve stopped training and I’m happy with my plan to finish. I’m feeling happy that the last time I rode I was world champion plus I won both races and beat all the other guys out there. For me to do it I’d need something like £1m and that’s not going to happen.”

It hasn't got much play because it was a rumor started by the Spanish press and has basically been debunked by all the other media sources.

It would be interesting but its not like they havent raced against each other.

Although I think Bayliss had a win last time they raced in MotoGP.

I'd love to see it if it would happen. Man would that be a party! As far as who I think would win? I love Bayliss but I think Rossi would either win it or bin it. Like so many times, it'll be who snags the set-up.

We can't forget Ben Spies who seems to be already running real hot laps. Wouldn't that be a feather in his cap to beat those two. My adrenaline is pumping just thinking about it.

That would be a good one .i would'nt want to put money on it .close one to call,rossi is super smooth but baylis just does'nt give in to enything he will fight till the bike brakes or he bins it .i say put schwantz in there as well!!
