| SPEED CHANNEL, WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!! What the hell, the only reason I upgrated my direc tv. package was for Speed, to watch the racing.
As I programmed my dvr I noticed no race 2, hmmmmm...
and today I read the article below, WTF!!!
Who in the world would think this is a good idea! why would anyone think that the viewing public would be ok with that? thats a load of shtt man.
specialy with the rest of their programming, personaly I think that other than live motorcycle racing events the rest of the programming is crap anyways.
man this SUCKS!! race two from phillip island to air tuesday ... by dean adams Wednesday, February 25, 2009
As it stands today, US World Superbike fans won't see race two from this weeeknd's WSBK opener until next Tuesday.
Speed's schedule has been known to change on the fly, but as it stands right now, race one is scheduled for Sunday, and race two next Tuesday.
Presumably the WSBK feed is still sent to Speed live and they choose to broadcast it ... later.
With American Ben Spies in the series, a US round and a hugely competitive field vying for success there is undoubtedly more American interest in WSBK now than in many years. Best case scenario would be WSBK streaming the race from their web site. In the past WSBK had a rights issue with Speed in that regard.
Delaying the broadcast of the race, in 2009, unfortunately, is going to be a lose-lose proposition for Speed. Most US fans under the age of 30 today are well-versed in torrent searches and file sharing. They will no doubt waste little time setting the DVR or VCR for Tuesday when they can find the European broadcast on-line and download it. Illegal as that may be.
End result is that those fans will not watch the race when it's broadcast on Tuesday on Speed and they will become comfortable with simply looking to the Internet to download the races instead of watching them on Speed.

| Re: SPEED CHANNEL, WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!! Reruns of Pinks, Superbikes, and CRAPCAR talk and the Daytona 500 are wghat their viewership wants. They're still incrementally phasing out the two-wheeled stuff that made Speedvision the darling of our community.
Can you imagine the volume of chicken bones & hotdog wrapers being thrown at the TVs if Daytona, Bristol & Charlotte CRAPCAR races were tape=delay broadcast by even 15 minutes? |

| Re: SPEED CHANNEL, WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!! Yep...SPEED is definitely getting worse. Way too much nascar for my taste. I've mentioned this before, but what I wouldn't give for some UK programming over here....

| Re: SPEED CHANNEL, WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!! You're right and it sucks big time. Nascar rules and so does making choppers in America. They only broadcast things that make money and in the US Wrestling and Nascar win (both are phoney). They are currently trying to nascarize AMA Superbike to make more money but so far the manufacturers refuse.
My buddies and I tape the races on the rebroadcast Tuesday and meet Tuesday night for our own "Two Wheel Tuesday". We watch the races and drink beer. Hard part is not checking results before hand. I usually give in so I know the results but it's still enjoyable to see how the results happened. |
