| Re: daytona bike week Try a search; it deals with the racing body that replaced the AMA (DMG) and that Honda and others did not like what they proposed. If you really dog into it, everyone was waiting for rules; even suppliers and everything was up in the air. |

| Re: daytona bike week Jake Zemke and Cris Peris were on Honda's Zemke had another badly timed pit stop and took him out of having a good finish. Honda says they pulled out of racing, but they have the Honda crew running what was Corona Honda last year with Neil Hodgson on the big bikes. |

| Re: daytona bike week Still not a true factory ride. Honda said early on when they dropped out that they will support the satellite teams. They are just providing more support to certain teams. Honda probably doesn't want to lose some of their top people and this is a way to keep them on the payroll.
"The only Honda factory rider already contracted for the '09 season is Neil Hodgson."
"Jake Zemke, winner of last year's AMA Formula Xtreme Championship, now seems likely to race for the Erion Honda team, which Honda will still be offering support to, along with the Corona Honda team."
All of this was announced in December; nothing has changed. |

| Re: daytona bike week So,this means what to you?
“ it’s going to be run out of the American Honda workshop. ”
It just means that Corona is the sponsor. How is that not a "true factory bike"? |

| Re: daytona bike week Simple, a factory team is 100% maintained by the factory. Corona is not just the sponsor. Honda has the rifer under contract, so they pay if he races or not. They also have people that they don't want to let go. They are maintaining the bike and keeping the rider. The Corona team is doing more than just providing a sponsor, which means that Honda is assisting the Corona team like they said they would.
Honda has done exactly what they said they would; not running a factory team in AMA this year. |

| Re: daytona bike week Corona still has there shop, why arent they using it? Why are they not using the crew they had before? Why did they screw over Holden? It is a factory team. They just have to save face, and try and stand there ground, they still cant beat Mladin on an 2008 GSXR. |

| Re: daytona bike week Wrong, using your thinking, then every team in MotoGP is a factory team. Honda doesn't sell GP bikes, they lease them. Guess what, not every team is a factory team.
Honda has people on the payroll and they just cannot move them over to the Corona team; so while they are employees of Honda, it is easier to keep them and let them maintain the bike that Neil rides for Corona Honda. Honda would need to transfer Neil to Corona and then pay the difference from what Honda Corona would pay compared to what the contract states Honda will pay.
The reason why Honda is keeping employees is for their knowledge and they don't want them to leave as either another series will start or DMG will give-in. Honda views that they will not race as a short-term endeavor and not a longterm one. |

| Re: daytona bike week Well I think you are the one that is wrong, if every team in GP raced out of a Factory shop then yes that would make them Factory teams. What you are claiming now is that Corona is leasing the bike from Honda. Thats good for a a laugh. They are in the Factory Honda workshop = Factory Honda. |

| Re: daytona bike week You are so wrong. A factory team is 100% controlled by the factory. This is not the case, plain and simple. I only brought MotoGP up is because you think that if the factory has anything to do with it, then it is a factory team.
Are there any Honda Corona employees involved in the team? If the answer is yes, then it is not a factory team. |
