Re: US MotoGP

It states in this months T.W.O. that there will be a US GP next year and it will be held in Birmingham Alabama and it will be the season opener. Due to safety issues brought to the fore front by the death of Daijaro Japan will be droped from the schedule. Also there will be a middle eastern race added as well, probably in Bahrain or Dubai.

Re: US MotoGP

I have been dreaming of this ever since I heard about and saw the pictures of the track in Alabama. A MotoGP in the USA! Finally. And centrally located so we can drive. Is this for real?

The Director of AMA Pro Racing in the US was at our ROGUE trackdays. He told us it definitely looks like it's going to happen.

If I'm going to a foreign country to watch MotoGP, I'd rather it be one I'd like to visit. Like Holland, Spain, Italy or something like that.

Re: US MotoGP

It will cost me less to fly to Europe than to Alabama.

It may be the best track in the US, but I think they chose very poorly. If you are a European or Asian fan, why in the hell would you come to Alabama to watch, there is no draw other than the track. Alabama has no real MC presence to pull in locals.

Re: US MotoGP

Sounds like it's between Barber and Homestead (FLorida). No one else has built a track that's worthy. Maybe if we all go out and support the GP when we get one, someone else will find it financially feasible and they'll build another world-class track in a location that offers other extra-curriculars. Just remember that the MotoGP bikes are LOUD and we're having enough problems with noise pollution concerns around residential areas.

If they chose a reasonable location, I would be all for supporting it. *If it succeeds in this location, why move it?

This is stupid, and undoubtedly, all about money. *They'll reap what they sow.

From the vid's that I have seen, Barber is a great track. *The only point is that I am not racing on it, so its a mute point for me. *

Would I rather go to a state that outlaws vibrator's - nothing against anybody living in Bama &#39 or Miami Beach that features this?

Re: US MotoGP

What worries me now is today I read in MotoGP.com that Qatar, of all places, has been awarded a spot in MotoGP 2004 schedule!

http://motogp.tiscali.com/en/motogp/index.htm

Could they have muscled their way into the Barber Motor sport venue?

And to you out there who think the 'South' is a sub-standard venue for a Premier motorcycle event, well, that is just exactly what I would expect to hear from a couple of ignorant/arrogant fools who have never been outside of their own state. You seem surprised that someone spent the money to build a 'World Class' facility in the U.S. and 'it's not in Cali?' Wake up and travel a bit. Birmingham, Alabama is not such a bad place. Since when is ANY place not good enough for a United States Grand Prix? I am tired of taping these races on SpeedChannel. (I want to smell MotoGP exhaust and hear the V-five Hondas howling past me. I want to see Kenny Roberts Proton V-five-'he built it from scratch for Pete's sake!') It's rather humiliating that the so-called 'richest country in the world' is'nt on the GrandPrix schedule every year!
This track kicks the #### out of any track in the country-bar none.

Give it a chance

What I think is, if it is not close to you guys then it isn't good enough. Well, at least they are giving it a chance here. These bikes are starting to reach 205mph for god sakes. In my opinion they picked a track that can handle those speeds with plenty of run off.
