With the high-powered race boots available these days, braced every which way to Sunday,
you'd think broken ankles are a thing of the past. Must have been one helluva crash, no?

Have you ever been to a Supercross event?
They catch huuuuge air, no boots are ever going to prevent a break from those heights....but I would bet that it would have been much worse without them....

Re: Hopper Breaks Both Ankles

I know a lot of racers motocross in the off season to keep in shape and what not. But that is pretty stupid.

I was wearing my Sidis (albeit they aren't the Vertebra ones with the exoskeleton) and I still crushed my heel really bad in a street crash. The boot looked fine. My foot didn't. Sometimes the hit is just more than any protection can cushion.

Re: Hopper Breaks Both Ankles

I was at that supercross event in San Diego. I have only been to about a dozen motocross races in my life, but this night seemed to have an exceptional amount of crashes. There were lots of injuries and even a fatality on the track, just a bad day for a lot of riders.
