I ran michelin for many yrs(up to the H2's), only to be very impressed with the Diablos, and happy I switched. I just don't want anything that might be inferior to the Diablos. Thanks!

Don't know if this'll help, but it's something... Found it when I was looking for info on the new Michelins..

THIS IS FROM MICHELIN HQ and directly from the
Manager Sales and Competition Development (pretty much at the top of the tire food chain)
Two Wheel North America has to say........

I had the opportunity to view some the messages on your message board this morning particularly with the discussions about Power Race tires.

It seems their is some confusion even in our ranks...so to set the record straight I have prepared a sheet for you to identify what tires are designed for street vs track. ( See Attachment).

In Short...
Pilot Power is the premier street/trackday tire, other great trackday tires are Pilot Sport Cup and Pilot H2.

Power Race Soft, Power Race Medium offer very limited use on the street (20%)...these are real race tires! Most riders will go faster on these tires than the S2/M2 from last year.

Power Race Medium Soft, PR1- PR5 are 100% race track due to complex compounding which do not work well on the street.
This type of tire was only available last year to the very top riders. For 2005 all racers have a choice because these tires are available to everyone.

I hope this helps clear up the confusion on your chat room.

Regards
Ron Wood

Also seen that the recommended pressures for the rears are 22 PSI and around 26-28 for the front! Was suprised at that! Can you confirm that Todd?

Re: Michelin Tire Group Buy (From $209/set!)

My dilema is this. I maybe ride 3-5 trackdays a yr, and a few hundred street miles. at track days I'm at the faster end of the "middle" group. That would make me think that I should be running the Power Race tires, but my main concern is rain. This yr I may only be able to hit 2-3 days, and if it's damp or raining, it kinda really puts monkey wrench in my riding. I'm happy with the diablo corsa's wet weather performance. To me it appears that the power's aren't up to the track performance of the corsa, and the power race may be better in dry but are total crap in damp situations. Does that sound about right? I got rained out at Pocono with H2,(8hr drive, hotel) and don't plan on making that mistake again.

The Power Race is the DOT race tire (comparable to the DOT Pirellie SUPERcorsa)...I'd think the plain Power would be closer to the Diablo Corsa than the Power Race.

My thought is for us to close the deal and get everything zipped up by around this coming Thursday. Your thoughts guys? I want to make sure people with April track days can be ready...even if we're not going to have them in your hands right around 4/1 we won't be too far off...

Agreed. This is exactly what I have been told also. Like the Diablo Corsas, the rain sipes on the Pilot Powers go all the way to the edge of the tire, therefore making them better in the wet. The rain sipes on the Power Race and SuperCorsas do NOT go to the edges, so when lfully eaned over, you're basically on slicks.

That sounds good to me. I don't want to push this to the last minute as I do need a few days to get them mounted for my 4/11 event as well.

Todd, I will be leaving for louisiana (3-26) this friday on a kind of an unexpected trip and will not be able to hook to the net down there. I don't want to interrupt the deal on these tires so do you need me to pay in advance for this?
