| Michelin Tire Group Buy (From $209/set!) Guys,
Just worked out even better pricing!
Pilot Powers - $209/set for 120F/180R (+$25 for 190R)
Power Race:
120/70 Soft of Med/Soft: $128
120/70 Medium: $108
180/55 Soft or Med/Soft: $185
180/50 Medium: $135
190/50 (all compounds): $185
This is just $243/set and up for RACE tires that totally rock!
We'll compile a list of buyers and then open ordering. Shipping is a flat $8/tire to US locations via UPS. Sorry but we cannot ship tires USPS which precludes APO/FPO, AK/HI, and international orders.
Due to this low margin, I'm ONLY opening this to current/active members of fireblades.org...Conqsoft has built an incredible community here for you guys and those of you who have been here to help build it are the ones I'm here to support! So if you were not an active member of the forum as of 3/8/05, you will not be eligible to participate.
We will charge tax in CA only.
We'll run it like a typical group buy. Post up with your name on a numbered list, then the next guy posts that info and adds his name and item(s), etc. When everyone has had the chance to get on the list, we'll close the list and open ordering.
Once we take the order, we should be able put in our bulk order with Michelin and get most of these tires shipped out within approx. 7-10 days, possibly sooner. Each buyer will be sent tracking data when the order ships.

| Re: Michelin Tire Group Buy (From $209/set!) Yes. I would suggest the PR2/PR4 combo, which would be priced the same as the soft front and medium rear. We only do it in 120/180 combos. |

| Re: Michelin Tire Group Buy (From $209/set!) Todd,
Do you have temp ranges on the different compounds? I am confused as to which to get... My experience tells me to get the straight soft front tire, but I don't understand why its that much more... So I am confused for sure. From what I can tell, the medium front and medium rear is the "trackday" compounds where as the others are the "guys who know what they are doing right these" compounds... Any help?
Same for the rear, I'm on a 600. So while I don't smoke a rear like a liter bike does, depending on the temp range, I definitly wanna make sure that I get sufficient heat into it if I go medium.
Thanks for the great deals!

| Re: Michelin Tire Group Buy (From $209/set!) do you ship to canada? If so, how much?
Exchange rate is veddy good right now, and I need a set of powers with a 180/55 rear.

| Re: Michelin Tire Group Buy (From $209/set!) If you look at these on our site...you'll see I have a compound spec chart listed...
I would go medium/medium all the way up to A group track day riders...as you know, going soft front and medium soft rear means that you will have incredible grip but when grip falls off it does so much more sharply on a really soft compound. And look at the chart...see how even with a medium you still get softer shoulders? I'm starting our track season (STT-West opens 4/19 at Thunderhill) and I am going to try medium/medium and push them to at least 3 track events. If you ran softer, I think getting more than 2 track days could be pushing it a bit...of course running warmers should extend tire life by 1 track day on average.
Phobiaphobe...we can ship UPS to Canada but it's more pricey, and they have higher customs duties. We don't do tires USPS, sorry. |

| Re: Michelin Tire Group Buy (From $209/set!) I'll hazard a reply to that, MedTechRR.. If you're riding smoothly, you'll not likely be anywhere near the limit of available traction on any of those tires. Some differences:the Pilot Powers should heat up quicker than the pure race tires, thus getting you more traction and confidence earlier in the session. They would not be prone to the "heat cycle" decay of the race compounds, and when you're done with the 3 day extravaganza, you would still have tires that would be appropriate for the street for a thousand miles or so.
A while ago I had some track day Pirelli SuperCorsa Race tires on the 954, and decided that it wasn't worth swapping them out between track days. I soon learned I had to be very careful on the street, it was hard to get heat into them and they cooled off very quickly. And the traction was not impressive when they were cool, though they were confidence inspiring on the track when they were being flogged.

| Re: Michelin Tire Group Buy (From $209/set!) I second the thoughts on the Pilot Powers. For most intermediate riders the Pilot Powers are fine. If you find the front Pilot Power is not working for your geometry setup (my 929 pushes my front tire around a lot because we have it set up for Willow Springs to keep the front end down over T6) then the race tires are not a bad idea.
But if you're likely to run these on the street a lot between track events, I NEVER would suggest you run the race tires since IMHO the "DOT" designation is sort of a farce...sand, gravel, and water just SUCK with DOT race tires. |
