Summer Galfer GB: SS Lines, HH Pads, Wave Rotors

NEW GROUP BUY.....order by 8/15/2006....offer only open to
CURRENT MEMBERS active as of 7/1/2006...

GALFER STAINLESS (2 line Racing or Superbike) LINES w/ HH PADS

Galfer braided stainless lines are a massive improvement over stock rubber
brake hoses. Remember that with rubber brake hoses, the line must
flex/expand before any braking pressure can be applied to the pistons,
slowing down response time and making the lever feel "spongy". Galfer's
2-line racing kits come with all necessary hardware & washers to change
Out the stock stuff. Lines have silver fittings and your choice of clear,
black, smoked (looks like carbon fiber), blue, or red outer coating.

One step up from braided stainless lines if you're racing and really need
the "extra edge", the Superbike stainless brake lines from Galfer offer an
improvement over even standard steel lines as well as giving you a custom
look with the gold fittings.

The SBK lines thread directly into the caliper without the use of a banjo
bolt, and are available in clear, black, smoked, blue, or red outer
coating.
Note: These should be installed by a professional mechanic.
Self-installation will void the warranty (and is REALLY dangerous if you
FUBAR the installation)
NOTE: SBK lines are only available for these models; RC51 (all),
CBR929/954RR, CBR600/1000RR, SV650S (all), GSXR600 (01-06), GSXR750
(00-06), GSXR1000 (01-06), ZX6R/RR (03-06), ZRX1100/1200, and ZX10R (04-06)

The deal includes Galfer's HH brake pads (the proper set to do both calipers for the front) for a great package. The HH compound is a sintered bronzed
base material that includes graphite and advance ceramics. It will provide
instant powerful controlled braking force at any speed or temperature,
Rainy or dry weather. Great lasting power for track days, racing, and aggressive street riding where you want immediate stopping power. And Galfer is using a new ceramic coating for further thermal resistance and less heat transfer to your pistons/fluid!

For a step up in brake fluid performance, we're including a bottle of
Motul 5.1 fluid (compatible with DOT-3 and DOT-4 fluids). Compared to the lower boiling points of stock D3/D4 brake fluids, Motul 5.1 has a higher boiling point (365 deg F) BUT is more stable (less hydrophilic - meaning less water absorbing) over time than the racing fluids which must be changed out frequently.

Front Racing 2-line kit + front pads + 1 bottle (.5L) Motul 5.1 Brake
Fluid:
Retail: $174
Sale: $136*
(Add gold or blue fittings for $10)
(Add gold or red bolts for $15)

Front Superbike 2-line kit + front pads + 1 bottle (.5L) Motul 5.1 Brake
Fluid:
Retail: $184
Sale: $148**
(SBK kits include gold fittings/bolts)

* Sale price is $148 for 4-pad calipers such as 2003 GSXR1000, ZX636/10R, 04 ZX12R
** Sale price is $160 for 4-pad calipers such as 2003 GSXR1000, ZX636/10R, 04 ZX12R

Add SS rear brake or clutch line to either kit above for $42 (+10 to add gold or blue fittings, +$10 for gold or red bolts)

Add semi-metallic (black compound) rear brake pads for $20 (we suggest
This over HH rear pads due to the low thermal-demand tolerance of most OEM rear rotors AND the fact that unless you're racing you rarely use the rear and would be better served with a longer-life pad)

Shipping is via UPS Ground insured, ranging from $9-13 to most US
locations. We only charge sales tax in CA. International orders will ship USPS (see rules/restrictions on our "policies" page)

INQUIRE ABOUT ADDING WAVE ROTORS to this package for a complete brake system upgrade with front and rear wave rotors at a killer price! Galfer has just released CHROME wave front rotors...they're going fast but we're happy to add them to your order at special sale pricing!

Order on our website at Cal-Sportbike -->Parts & Accessories using the prices above,
and note "SUMMER GALFER GB" in the COMMENTS box to get the discount.

superbike lines thread directly into the calipers. the regular racing lines have banjo fittings on the end like stock.

not sure if many if any of us would notice a difference.

Sounds like the SB lines are easier to instal. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I think they must be harder because they require that a Certified Mechanic install them.

Re: Summer Galfer GB: SS Lines, HH Pads, Wave Rotors

Because the SBK lines thread in directly and the line does not "free swivel" around a banjo bolt before being tightened down, there is a small risk of the installing person having the lines pointing up vertically and when the front compresses it could crimp the line causing a loss of braking pressure and thus a potential bad crash. Their liability-conscious course of action was to require installation by a mechanic who should know how to mount lines to avoid that issue from happening.

Re: Summer Galfer GB: SS Lines, HH Pads, Wave Rotors

IMHO, it's about the same to install either kit. Really straightforward, as long as you route the lines correctly.

Seperate question: I've heard that the 04 GSXR 600 uses the same calipers as (maybe the same year) 636. The difference is that the Kawi uses 4 pads per caliper where the Zook uses 2.

If you can confirm this, and send me the appropriate pads to switch my Zook to 4 pads per caliper I'm ready to buy.

Don't let the similarities confuse you. Yes, both are Tokico 108mm radial mounts, but you cannot interchange pads from the 2 pad to 4 pad setup. You CAN do a caliper conversion and put on the 636 calipers to get the 4-pad setup though.

I checked the website and I'm doubtful, but maybe someone with a paper catalog has better info . Any chance of a big rotor for klr650?

I thought I saw galfer made something like that but I cannot find it on their site - or the site I thought I saw it on. So maybe Im just imagining it?

Did you check what time he is replying? Work does not stop when you are not in the office.

Re: Summer Galfer GB: SS Lines, HH Pads, Wave Rotors

You know the joke, when you're the business owner you only work half days, and you get to choose which 12 hours. Building Cal-Sportbike it was a lot of 16-20 hour days, but now with staff I can trust to take care of you guys and pass messages to me to return calls for technical questions and harder stuff so you still get my input and advice, I don't have to physically be there all the time. So I gotta admit life has gotten very pleasant now. Work 10-4 most days, then back online at 7-8PM to answer emails until 2-3AM. So it spreads my work day out nicely over 10-12 hours but it's more palatable and let's me do the family man stuff I enjoy.
