| H.I.D. Xenon Headlights Hey everyone. I have hooked up with a company that produces and sells OEM quality HID Xenon headlight sets. If you dont know what those are they are the "pretty" headlights that Lexus, Mercedes, and BMW use. I am trying to get together a bulk order so if anyone is interested let me know. The cost will be fairly cheap since this is the first order. If your vehicle/bike uses 2 headlight bulbs(one for high and one for low) the price will be approx. $100 per set, per beam, typically it is the low beam that is HID. If your vehicle/bike uses one bulb for both high and low beams the price will be appox. $150. Plus shipping to you. I say approx., because until i have an order together and call for final pricing i will not know for sure but the variation in pricing will not be more than $10 either way. I will require money up front and will keep those ordering posted on the order until shipment arrives. If a large enough order is not gathered all money will be returned. So if your interested let me know and dont forget to tell your friends.

| Re: H.I.D. Xenon Headlights Ive heard that its best to install a relay from the battery to ignite the HID ballast. Im not sure of what specific relay to buy or how to hook it up though. I've heard that the ballast pull alot of power on start up and sometimes the stock harness can't handle it, and it could melt your wires, and not just in the headlight wires. Hopefully someone can give a detailed explanation of how to install a relay and which one to purchase. |

| Re: H.I.D. Xenon Headlights I tried a set of these on my 97 CBR900... within about 6 hours of riding, I blew a fuse; both headlights were out. I replaced with a higher amperage fuse and a bulb burned out within two hours (both high and low). People at the bike shop said car headlights draw too much electricity (100 watt vs 55 watt); they said I could upgrade the wiring harness or use Piaa bulbs (they come in vairous "colors"), made for lower wattage vehicles (motorcycles, snowmobiles, atvs, etc), but are just as bright (seriously; I compared them to my friend's 06 BMW... just as bright). The Piaa's were $80 for a pair at the bike shop. I also had to make sure they were "H4" type bulbs to fit the socket (the Piaa paperwork shows 8 different kinds), so make sure whatever bulbs you get will fit your bike.

They aren't even as bright as the factory clear bulbs because it's tinted. You can't claim to see better through tinted sunglasses as opposed to clear safety glasses. Plug N Play HID systems do not come on factory lighting systems from BMW or Lexus. Simple facts: Wiring for halogen bulbs are physically thinner and are insufficient for amperage drawn by an HID ballast (hence a clue, blown fuse); This is why you need a relay with thicker wiring. Also, even with a higher rated fuse, the wiring doesn't supply enough juice so ballast and bulb failures are common. All of this doesn't take into account the quality of the HID kit. Ballasts are cheap and aren't the same quality as those found on OEM systems. Bulbs are rebased (chopped up and modified) and the work of the person doing the rebasing job determines how your light output will be. They need to align the arc of a HID bulb to the filament of a halogen bulb (really hard to do). Check out danielsternlighting.com and hidplanet.com/forums for more HID facts. |

| Re: H.I.D. Xenon Headlights I finished installing my HID kit this morning and took it out for a ride tonight. The low beam is sufficient for most riding. Its very bright and the contrast is excellent. The high beam is insanely bright. A car cut me off as I was taking a freeway offramp so I turned on the high beam when he got in front of me. It was so bright that the reflection off of his trunk was blinding me. He reached up and tilted his mirror way down.
I took my time instaling it and made sure nothing was going to come loose. I read the zx10 already has some sort of relay for the lights, thats why they stay off until the motor starts. Everything on the bike seems to work ok, and i cant smell anything burning, so thats a good sign. I have the 4300K lights. They are the brightest (most white) out of all the color temperatures. |

| Re: H.I.D. Xenon Headlights I took some pics of my lights at night, the high beam is really intense at night.
On Bike - Low Beam

These are 4300K HID's. I think the high beam might be a bit too much at night. I bet people will flash me even during the day. |

| Re: H.I.D. Xenon Headlights I am riding the CBR600RR 06 model.I also installed HID Xenon and what a mistake. For a week everything went well then the fuse blown, after replacing it and i did change it with the same amp fuse i had light for two days, after two days no light and no harness all burned out.Honda obviosly showed me the finger after i replace the Xenon with my standard globes.Salesman told me the watts on them is to high for the harness and i must install a relay that work from your excisting light relay.Fixed the harness and not intrested in the Xenon. So guys before installing them make sure you know what you are doing. |

| Re: H.I.D. Xenon Headlights Install a relay kit for the HID's, you can get one off ebay for about $20 or so... I have a relay on my HIDs for my 929, and have had them installed for about 6 months or so now w/ no problems at all. The HIDs I got for my bike though isn't a kit that you buy but actually just came off a Lexus that I found on ebay for $75. But aftermarket or not the relay should do the trick. |
