| Re: Theft ring busted in FL! are motor numbers linked to frames? If I need a motor off of ebay, should i get the number off of it and have it run before purchasing. I know its not the same number as the vin, but I want to make sure im not buying stolen property. |

| Re: Theft ring busted in FL! Over here in the Uk, there is a frame number and also the engine number (stamped on the block itself - normally on the O/S). Both are registered with the DVLA (The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency).
If the bike has been stolen, you would have been able to ask them and have got it checked.
I hope you have a system like ours. |

| Re: Theft ring busted in FL! chop shops and the chop vans make me cringe... on the subject of bike jacking, does anyone recommend any good anti-theft alarms? is it worth it/does it even work? I tell ya what, "i pity the fool" who gets caught by me in the process of jacking a bike |

i had an alarm on my 600.. they are super sensitive. it did scare some guys off that were stealing license plates.. but in all honesty if you really want a good security system.. get lojack. the rest of them aren't worth it.. if somebody wants the bike they'll get it. |

| Re: Theft ring busted in FL! With technology like it is, I wish they would laser the VIN number on the engine and every other significant part when assembling the bike. That might put an end to theft. |

| Re: Theft ring busted in FL! They must be good at what they do. When they lock them up they should be made to rebuild each bike that was stolen and have the bikes returned to the owners. Then string em up! |

Yea, I hear nothing but good things about LoJack but I hear the service varies on your area. I talked to a local cop and he said he wasn't sure if our PD supported it. Ill check again though. |

| Re: Theft ring busted in FL! Vehicle/motorcycle theft is high here in Texas. The insurance companies told me the reason my insurance is so high for my vehicles is because of theft as they cannot recover vehicles once they cross the border. |
