| In SW MO:'02 CBR954 Black & Polished This is a huge frustration and disappointment for me. This is the second bike I've had stolen from the same address in the the last three months. On Aug. 30th, I parked my '00 CBR929 on the front sidewalk, blocked from road view by my Explorer, and between 5am and 7am it was stolen. Yes, that one was partly my fault because I didn't lock the handlebar, but it was in gear. The sun was coming up, out in the open on a moderately-used road, yet someone still went for it.
This bike was my new joy... bigger, newer and about 11x nicer than the '00 929. I bought it only two and'a half weeks ago in Southern Oklahoma(near Texas border). I went through the extra safety steps this time and decided to start parking it in my fenced backyard(with a dog and only accessible through alley that no one uses), as well as buy a chain and lock to put on front wheel and a bike cover so that no one can see what it is.
It is a 2002 CBR954 freshly painted ALL black, no decals, all plastic is black. The rest of the bike was polished, the wheels, handlebars, frame, swingarm, etc... it was ALL black or polished. The bike has close to 13k on it and is EXTREMELY loud due to a D&D Exhaust. Bike could be in Kansas or Oklahoma as I am only a short distance from the borders. There is one lead on it so far, and the UHaul was behind a red Blazer that had Oklahoma plates.
Here's a pic, sorry for not having 20 different pics, only had bike for EXTREMELY short time... still afraid of how insurance will react to this one... http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ro/CamsCBR.jpg

| Re: '02 CBR954 Black & Polished In SW MO **** man sorry to hear. Sounds like they went to a lot of trouble to get that stolen. I hear a lot of stolen bike issues up in MO. There's only 3 other 954s non with polished frame except mine in tulsa so ill keep my eye out but most likely it wont be out. Hope you get it back. |

| Re: In SW MO:'02 CBR954 Black & Polished The Plate on the Blazer registers to a man in HENRYETTA, OKLAHOMA. Is there a member who lives close to Henryetta, a little south of Tulsa? I have a phone number and everything, I'm tempted to call and probe him with questions, but I don't want him to dump the bike because someone called out of the blue about it. |

| Re: In SW MO:'02 CBR954 Black & Polished Two suggestions come to mind...
#1 Let the police handle it. They have the same info you posted.
#2 They know where you live. Get a storage rental garage, or move to someplace that has secure garage storage, or don't get another bike.
Years ago I had to live in a high crime area while attending school because that was all I could afford. My bike was chained outside the apartment under an outside stair, but I worried about it being ripped off every night. I was forced by management to do something else as it was a violation of fire code to keep the bike under the stairway. So I found out about an elderly lady nearby that had garage space and was willing to rent half her garage to me. She was very nice and didn't care whenever I came to get the bike. She also always had a batch of chocolate chip cookies on the counter. Although not part of the deal, I did some yardwork and handyman chores for her. Never had my bike ripped off and met a wonderful human being. Perhaps you can find something like that too! |

| Re: In SW MO:'02 CBR954 Black & Polished Insurance is probing me quite a bit this time around... but I can't blame them. If I were the insurance and had to look at my record, two bikes in three months, I'd be asking questions. The lady flat out said they will be asking several personal background and financial questions as well as run a credit check on me this time to see if I'm a legit guy or not.
So far, the insurance has been working very well with me, the girl that handle'd my claim on the 929 was a great girl, very, very helpful. The lady this time acts like she's just there to be paid. I've gave my statement over the phone(what happened, where it happened, etc), and I just received my packet from State Farm which I have to give a written statement(to see if stories match or whatever). Then if bike isn't found in two or three weeks, we'll start the settlement process.
Since I've mentioned there is a lead on the bike and have mentioned everything that I know, such as the plate numbers, and knowing who the plates register too and such... insurance has been a little friendlier with me, knowing I'm not hiding anything. |

| Re: In SW MO:'02 CBR954 Black & Polished Well, to keep people updated. I received a call from the police department this afternoon.
Officer says "Cameron Covert? We found your 2000 Honda."
I thought for a second and said "You mean, you found my 2002 CBR?"
Then officer replies "... We have a 2000 Honda CBR929."
So, my first stolen bike(stolen Aug. 30th) was just now found. I've been personally chasing every lead I've came across for my '02 954, but out of the blue I get a call about the 929. It has been stripped down to just frame and engine, nothing else. It was in the back of a truck and the guy had commited sucicide inside the truck, and since the VIN was stripped from the bike, the police confisicated it and did some chemical test things to get the VIN to show. The insurance technically owns it now, so I just passed the info onto the insurance.
BUT because of all this, I have more curious questions. To get technical and make it short... there have been people I've always been 'un-certain' of two blocks down, bunch of no-good kinda people. Well, the cop told me where the 'sucicide' guy lived and I drove past it and I just happen to see a truck parked in front that I ALWAYS see two blocks down at the house. And this whole time I've been thinkin that it has to be someone in my neighborhood, I only had the 954 for two weeks before this happened. So, I'm curious if the people down the street have something to do with it since a truck is always at that house and happens to be at the same house that had my 929 frame. |

| Re: In SW MO:'02 CBR954 Black & Polished get you some big ass gangster friends and go kick their friggin door down!being a biker to me means more to me than just riding a motorcycle. Just remember that the same coke heads who steal bikes sometimes steal guns. Be prepared to get gangster if you decide to take matters into your own hands. Its a shame if all arrows point to the same place, but the law can't do anything about it. By the way, i'd recommend you not take my advice on the matter. Good luck though.

| Re: In SW MO:'02 CBR954 Black & Polished Well, personally i wouldnt go crazy and kick peoples doors down, you might get shot. Snoop around and keep your eye out on anything that is happening.
Nice to see police are doing their job and that they have recovered the 929... Shame its too late though.
There is always the possibility of you and a group of mates, dressing up in SWAT out fits, balaclavas, bullet proof vest, AK47 or other automatic machines and ramming their door... Would be like the game i used to play as a boy, cops and robbers except we never got shot or shot the robbers.
Good luck |

| Re: In SW MO:'02 CBR954 Black & Polished Cops are doing absolutely nothing. I've left 6 messages in the last three days and no replies, I've asked to have a officer contact me to provide more information for my case... nothing. Only reason the police found the 929 was because it was in the back of a truck that involved a dead man. If the guy never shot himself, then my 929 would never have been found.
Honestly, myself and three buddies... two which are police dispatchers have pretty much brought it upon ourselves. My girlfriend keeps getting upset because I'm chasing down each possible lead I have, to all the surrounding towns and stuff, hoping to find something or to eliminate one less 'possibility'. We are chasing down one bike right now that is apparently been pieced together and two of my riding friends have now seen it and SWEAR up and down that it has my polished wheels and a few other pieces off mu 954. A friend got some pictures of it in a parking lot the other day, and we just got an address this afternoon, so it's off to being investigator yet again. |

Hmm, i thought it was a bit strange that the police were doing something normal... Im wondering why a person would shoot their self - they could kill themselves with better ways (on a motorcycle)
You just be careful, you never know what they might have or what they would do.
Hope you find your 954 ... |

| Re: In SW MO:'02 CBR954 Black & Polished ... Hm, have yet to come across anything. I mailed all my information/paperwork into State Farm so we can finalize my claim... so looks like my time owning a 954 is coming to an end. Who knows, maybe the cops will find the 954 in two months when it'll be of no use to me cause Insurance will be the owner.

And just put it together from ebay. I hope that u or the police find ur 954 though. Point blank, it is someone that u know that has ur bike. Or possibly someone that u dont know but have seen in close proximity to ur property and maybe even conversed with at one time or another. thats what happened with my RC's. |
