Re: FOUND!!! Police has recovered my bike after 8 months

I was in a bingle years ago and the kid who hit me seemingly got off scott free. I pursued my third party insurance via a clause whereby they pay me 5k or the value (whichever is lower) and then extract the costs from the guilty party. I got my 5K eventually and the insurance company said they'd pursue the bloke for the other 6K while they try to get their money back. So at any point down the track I should get a nice surprise cheque.

The crim should be charged for your impound cost and repair/replacement costs. Whether or not he can pay up front is irrelevant, down the track he'll have to make payment otherwise he can't get credit or other government services.

My question is how he managed to ride around the bike without the HISS encrypted key. If he stripped the ignition barrel off the clamp and put another on it'd need to be matched with the ECU...

Also I'd really like to see your review of the aftermarket fairing kits. I've heard stories about the fairing being made from cheapy plastic that melts when the engine gets hot.

There's one place on eBay called auctmarts1 who claim their fairing is better than everyone elses for reasons x, y, z. Problem is every other fairing seller on eBay uses the same spiel.

auctmarts1 is the guy (company?) I bought the fairing set from. No one else bid, so I picked up the set for $299 + $225 shipping + $25 insurance. I got an email that says it'll take a 3-4 weeks, so we'll see how it all works out.

I'm fairly sure they're a company. Alot of people have left good feedback and the negatives are usually due to postage taking longer than anticipated.

It's been mighty tempting as they've got some lovely fairing sets. What colour scheme did you go with?

No HISS on the U.S. bikes. Don't ask me why.

When I was robbed a couple years ago the guy was caught, sentenced, and ordered to pay restitution. I never got a dime. The amount of work to submit the restitution claim in the first place was ridiculous.

Perhaps forgiveness would work better in the long-run... May be, may be he'll repent and do something good for the world...

I am actually more thankful that the bike returned to me in a reasonable condition than anything else...really.

Re: FOUND!!! Police has recovered my bike after 8 months

The thief pleaded guilty today. It saved me a trip to the court. He'll be sentenced on Oct. 1. I wanted to see the a$$hole in person, but I don't think it's worth the drive. Hope he learned something.

These corksuckers should be publicly flogged with the offended having the option of delivery. I have only had car audio stuff stolen but I think I would go for blood if I caught someone in the act. Motherflockers!!!!!

"Apparently a guy named Robert House was arrested and will be persecuted."

Sounds like you are the one that got persecuted instead of House. Glad you got your ride back. Those guys deserve some serious persecution.
