But if ur bike is stollen, its pretty much gone. If you want to try and find it, u need to look any and everywhere. Its prolly being used to sell parts. Was it insured? That is really the only thing to be helpful right now. Whoever got ur bike, more than likely u have seen them aroung b4. Hell maybe even someone that you know. |

You could also try placing juicy "parts wanted" ads in the hope of some drug-adled thief offering to sell you parts of your own bike.
It may also be possible it's been stolen to build as a track or drag bike so you could try wandering around the pits for anything that looks familiar or somebody selling a track bike may have needed all the cosmetics and road gear to register it so check race club for sale ads.

Good answer but its much more likely a van, hoist and away.
Doh police would be my first step, then head down to the local fence and ask him if can get you one, itll prob be yours.
Finally go on ebay you will prob find it in 1000s of pieces on there.

Maybe in the basement of the Alamo with Pee-Wee's bicycle
Seriously though it's probably in pieces by now at a local chop shop. |

Keep an eye out on places such as Craigslist... Was their anything on there that would make it unique compared to another bike?

No such thing as a cheap stolen bike - whatever you pay for it is wasted as it still belongs to somebody else.

Also if you want something to practice with on private ground..enough said
Why do you think they get stolen in the first place, forby for parts that is?

Practise what on private ground?
Yes, I would think most bikes are stolen for parts.

A lot of bikes are stolen purely for parts... Why sell a complete bike for £1000 when you can sell the wheels for £250, the forks for £250, engine for £600-800, plastics (depending on whether it is custom etc) for another 400-500...)
You would mint it.
Bladeracer... What some people do is find an identical looking bike in most cases (sometimes the clone a random numberplate as a owner of an R1 did to my Hornet), make sure its on the road and therefore taxed/insured etc and clone the plate for themselves. They can speed etc without getting caught.

In production-based classes like Superbike and Superstock you need the VIN plate to be able to race.
There's an even better reason to sell them for parts than the cash - much less chance of being caught with anything incriminating. If you steal a bike to use the parts to repair your own (which is what I reckon lots of bikes are stolen for) and dump the rest you aren't even risking getting caught onselling the parts.
As soon as the real plate owner gets a ticket and tells the cops it's clearly not him every cop on the road would have that plate listed for pickup.

I don't do stoppies but I've been doing wheelies for over twenty years and never did any damage to my bikes through it.
Besides, if you were going to do that, wouldn't it be safer ultimately to steal the bike yourself than go out and buy a stolen one? If you steal it yourself then really you're the only one that knows it's stolen. If you buy one though you don't know how many other people know about it being stolen and now also know that you have it - and those being people with very limited intelligence or scruples. People that steal other people's stuff aren't generally known for being particularly bright.
I have sometimes wondered if some of the stunter groups might not be involved in stolen bikes. Most of them don't look like they'd happily put down several thousand dollars on a nice bike just to totally trash it :-)
Is there any evidence in that direction?

| Re: where can you find a stolen bike My bike was taken in 2007, 8 days after I bought it. 600 miles on the clock. Luckily 3 days prior I had LoJack installed. An hour after I filed the report, they got a hit and found it in a subdivision 6 miles from my apartment. Luckily the only damage was the ignition as they smashed the fork lock. $300 and I was rolling again. Moral of the story: Security security security. Now I'm paranoid about everyone. I have the lojack, a Gorilla alarm, a disc lock and kryptonite cable running through the wheels, swingarm, forks and frame and then around a beam in my garage with the biggest padlock I could find. I think it weighs 10 lbs. And I still eyeball anyone walking by my door. To much? |

| Re: where can you find a stolen bike Blade we could elaborate on your theory forever lol, suffice to say there is wisdom in what your saying
Just a couple of things though, I for one have the ground to go mad on a bike, even have enough to get lost on a dirt bike too.
I do pop the wheel on the blade a little but Im always worried Ill fe** it up, so I would love an old shitty bike to ply with.
I have always wondered where the guys that do the street stunting get the money to be able to toss their bikes around like that too. I know that there isnt a snowballs chance in hell of e trying anything like that with my blade, I cant afford bits every week, never mind how much insurance would cost me.

My brother's VFR750 was stolen a few years ago. It was discovered some months later in a chopshop. Cops believe it went interstate with a load of others the same night it was grabbed.

But I had (if I can remember correctly) about 40 different offenses (ranged from various speeding, traffic violations (turning into a no entry etc) and parking etc) carried out by the rider who had cloned my number plate which belonged to my Hornet.
After numerous calls, emails and letters I was finally visited by a member of the Camden Council (Camden is the borough in which the offences were carried out).
The funny thing was that at the time, my Hornet was still crash damaged (clocks, front headlamp, bent handle bar, cracked stator cover, cracked mudguard, scuffed rear panel, punctured tank etc) and was silver (oh and had twin under seat exhausts). This motorcycle in the pictures was dark blue/black, was a fully faired bike and had a single can on the r/h/s.
EVEN after taking pictures of my motorcycle, they were still sending me blooming letters! Finally got in touch with the highest member of the force and managed to settle my dispute.
