Re: WB10317A75ZL76738 2005 BMW R1200GS Stolen

What has the dealer done? I would want some compensation (another bike!) for them losing my bike...

Hope you get her back!

Re: WB10317A75ZL76738 2005 BMW R1200GS Stolen

Twincam, I may have thrown you off course with my post. The bike was taken from outside his apartment the night of having a new tire installed. My thought is with all the aftermarket parts that had been installed it would be easy for one of the wrenches/goffers to get his address and then pick up the bike that eve. Like I say, I'd hate to see that one pan out because I'm not that trusting of a person to put my bikes in thier hands. But it would not be the first time I've heard of this happening and probably would'nt be the last.

Re: WB10317A75ZL76738 2005 BMW R1200GS Stolen

I'm very aware of the implications against the dealer for the theft of my motorcycle but, based on neighbors' testimony, it sounds like a neighbor that was moving out that night may have taken it...along with his own furniture.

The police here couldn't be bothered. The reporting officer seemed like he was about to fall asleep taking the report. They're too tired I guess. I don't blame them either. Why should they work hard for some stranger who makes enough money to live without welfare and pays his taxes?

The apartment management has been very helpful, but they have no record of anyone moving out where witnesses observed, nobody late on rent payments, etc. Pretty weird. I spoke to about 30 neighbors and nobody can pin down this guy or which apartment number he was residing. It was a guy that people recognize as having lived here though, so it isn't someone acting like a mover and stealing everything in sight. Weird, just weird. Still working on finding out who the mover was and what his forwarding address is.

I still am not ruling out the dealer. It is a hell of a coincidence that it's stolen the night I get a tire replaced. Notified BMW NA just in case they had similar complaints.

I've been calling salvage yards and notifying local clubs to keep an eye out including buds at work. Keeping tabs on ebay, Craigslist, and Cycletrader as well. Any other suggestions?

Makes me sick.

Re: WB10317A75ZL76738 2005 BMW R1200GS Stolen

You know, I had an incident where some scumbag (40+ **shole) calling my home at 2:00 A.M. asking to talk to my daughter (15 years old) Police advised me to check her myspace, cellphone etc. Called a PI and told him I want to know who she associates with while not at home, the whole works. Within hours he had obtained her current grades, who she sat by in class, who she had on her speed dial and so on........ Turns out this guy was known to the police for assault and when I paid him a visit, he ended up calling the cops on me. Lucky it was a policewomen who advised him he is not harassing a little girl, he's harassing a crazy mans daughter. Never had a problem since. It might be worth calling an investigator and at least talking to him/her. Cost me a few hundred bucks and I have my piece of mind back.

Man i too think of all the same scenerios you think of /// I too had mine serviced for tire replacements .. posted pics of it on Member Forums and also seen some people moving out of a Apartment in my complex that looked suspicious .. But after a month of nothing and posting online rewards i am just going to wait it out and see if whoever took it slips and gets caught basically thats the only way your gonna catch them unless you have cctv footage or catch them in the act .. My new bike 929 had silent pager alarm where will beep to me but not sound off the siren so i can catch these fukers in the act .. too bad for my when my 02 R1 got stolen i didn't have3 theft coverage or else i could care less because id be waiting on a check .. But the make u sick part .. your not alone my friend believe that .. some nightss couldn't fall asleep
