| Delboy's 954 Fighter project (ish) Hello fellow blade fighter's!
new to the forum and literally just started me new bike so though i'd post some pics for progress! this is it as i bought it. I have just ordered some ABM yokes and drag bars etc... and have bought a piaggio scooter headlight which im gunna play about with in an attempt to make something good out of it. and with good advise from another thread got some honda hornet900 hel braided lines for the front, and a motion pro clutch cable.(thanks stevecbr1000/tlstreak/peg grinder)
Future plans are as follows: I dont have any.
so looking for idea's or suggestions, ive never fightered a bike this new before... always had old dogs which ive found vines growing through in someones back garden, with solid rust coulored chains and carbs full of water... so this is the best bike ive had and im well excited! only 7000 on the clock so should last longer than 5 minutes too...
Del

| Re: Delboy's 954 Fighter project (ish) And good luck with the project First thing I'd do is decide what I wanna ditch... (I.E. that monsterus can) decide what's staying.... For mine i had a pretty good idea of how I wanted her to look at the start. which seems to have helped

I was going to do that with my first 954 but found a cheap Staintune instead.

| Re: Delboy's 954 Fighter project (ish) yeah i want a belly, pan, i can only find one that is bike specific and its like $600!!!! so they can **** off, but i was interested in buying one for another bike and fabricating my own brackets, but not sure which bike belly pan would be best to choose?
once ive got the thing on the road it'll be just adding to it as i go along, im doing a 12 day trip around europe in may, about 3000 miles, which is gunna cost a packet, so gotta realy all my funds into that really, but when i get back ill start looking into paint, wavy discs, completely pointless over prices anodized bits, maybe a proper front nose fairing/cone thingy, might play with the motor, the list goes on!!!!!!!
just wanna get back on 2 wheels! ive been demoted to public transport since august due to selling my zx6r fighter and saving to buy my blade...
ive added some pics of my zx6r, check it out...
i also added a few pics of an old jelly mould cbr that i built in a shed with barely enough room to roll a fag in, was more of a hack than a fighter and i bought it for 180 quid!!

| Re: Delboy's 954 Fighter project (ish) I would say chop the tail and get a nice stubby can or chop the stock one and paint it. I like you're older fighter as well, nice to see someone actually do something productive with a kawi |

| Re: Delboy's 954 Fighter project (ish) First let me say
Second, I'm with these guys on the rear can. I replaced mine with a Micron C/F Race Can (can see it in my gallery) and sounds quite nice. A shorty would go lovely with the 954RR.
Note: If you are going to be playing around with the back pressure, a PC and a custom map wouldnt go a miss (also, don't forget the can has to be legal for MOT - I change mine every time(takes 5 mins))
I would also colour code the rear hugger (I did mine and it really sets it off), get a corbin seat (supposed to help with long rides) and definatly replace those frame sliders/crash bungs/bobbins or get an engine cage.
It all depends what you want it to look like.

| Re: Delboy's 954 Fighter project (ish) Hack your ram air tubes so there not so long. I cut mine so the top is a little longer and starts the curve downward so you cant see into the airbox and will help keep rain out. The bottom doesnt come past the frame though. I will snap a decent photo tomorrow while im out with the bike.
I have a 954 can on my 929 and it doesnt look near as long on the 929. Maybe because of the box rear look of the 929. I dont care as much on bling and appearence as long as it looks decent and functions. Dont want a loud can anymore due to LEO enforcement in my area now also.
Start looking at making the horn wire longer if your going to keep it. Mine was like 6 inches too short with the bars. Are you going to run mirrors? How are you going to mount the speedo. Start looking at the front harness and see what you can do and how hard will it be to make the gigantic plug be hidden. The front MC can mount but once the bar gets in you might want to bend it a little. (you can boil aluminum in hot water and bend it without breaking, this works on lever and crashed rearsets pieces too)
Just a few off the top to help get you thinking. |
