Liked what you'd done to the 93 blade too.
And of course a most excellent pile of mess.
Keep up the good work - although lay off those huge tins of Malteser's or you'll be too lardy to get on a bike. |

1. Naughty Calendar - preferably out of date
2. Kettle - natch!
3. Arm chair - must be torn in places.
4. Mate - must not be useful in any way and must be capable of losing any bolt you ask him to hold.
5. Cat litter - in order to trip over whilst carrying large bucket of oil.
6. Old bike magazines - from 1970 onwards
7. Moulding mugs of tea - circa last summer
8. Large bucket of old oil - for use with cat litter mentioned earlier.
9. Hacksaw - your first port of call for all maintenance jobs of course.
10. Duck Tape - see above! |

I've JUST bought a Mistral tuned big bore (1200cc) Blackbird engine with loom, coild, cdi etc..
can you point me to your build thread so I can see what you had to do?
i think i've got plenty of room for the head...but was wondering if the bottom end/gearbox/sprocket location was similar to a blade
might shelve the turbo and fit this lump to make sure its ready for the deadline...anduse the turbo on the blade engine later
cheers in advance! |

whats the engine spec?
been told mine has been ported ( can see from the inlets, polisehed etc) but no cams as that pushes power up the rev range
up 15bhp on standard peak bhp..but its got MASSIVE power gains in the midrange..up 20 foot-pounds of torque on standard between 5-7k
92ft/ps of torque...arm ripping stuff!
the blade and blower will be put into a spare frame I have lying around ( see garage pics) with the ss swingarm that didn't sell on ebay last night!
so...Tuned Blackbird Spondon...and a Turbo blade
must stop buying stuff!! |

so...Tuned Blackbird Spondon...and a Turbo blade
must stop buying stuff!! | Mine is running 1194cc with JE pistons by TTS.
porting was only cleaned up a little to keep it torquey.
Richard in TTS reconed the porting was almost perfect on them and changing it would loose torque and change the power delivery.
In saying that there is so much torque its hard to tell what gear your in sometimes because it pulls so hard from any RPM in any gear
It rund 185.5 RWBHP I think the torque figure is 97.1 ftlb
power curve is real smooth its so deceptive you think it only has half the power untill you realize your in hyperspace
It does need good cooling tho!
I have 2 VTR rads on it and a big goodridge oil cooler under the seat!
If the head clears the tubes on the Spondon frame then Spondon Bird and turbo Blade is the way to go!
To put it in the blade frame you have to take a piece out of the beam and knock up some new mounts & have them welded on!
you might see others that are not done like that but they will have clearance issues from the front wheel radiator ground and you will have to drop the motor to service it
any other questions fire away man |

| Re: my Spondon build spot on mate...cheers
the guy selling it says its had a J&E 1200 bore kit and the inlkets polished and other bits n peices in there...standard cams tho.
an extra 20 ft/pounds of torque between 5 and 7k.
about 15bhp over tsandard but its been tuned for midrange.
those figures seem a bit down on yours...I'll get it in and put it on a dyno and see what happens.
hopefully running with no fairings will help with the cooling.
thanks for the info...sure i'll ask again soon
cheers matey |
