| Sideshow bobs' MKII So......
My next planned project was to be a Bladefighter.. but due to current money situation.. etc..etc.. blahdy blah... and first project still being A Work in Progress.. blah blah! ... things haven't panned out that way
..... Anyway.....
A few weeks ago, I picked Up a new frame (As some of you might of read) another Gixxer* but this one has had a frankenstinian graft job done....
The previous owner (The aformentioned Dr Stein) has added a 916 swinger....
* i just cant help myself..... once a hooligan always a hooligan

You could just say I thinkin a traditional 7/11 with touches that appeal specificaly to me

A) I like how she's turning out (not to everyones taste but deffinatly mine)
B) I've learnt a few lessons and think I can improve apon her

first off.....
Dr Stien may have been a utter Genius in the bringing dead things to life with lightning stakes But he was a total Imbecile when it came to sewing.....
the shock mount is the same.... It works but damn it's ugly! second...... besides the made from mechano look..... I doubt its structualy strong enoph.... and believe the previous owner was lucky it didnt fail......
So, yesterday I stripped swing arm off......
and took the frame to a local welder to have new mountings done

He's gunna puzzle over it for a day or two.... then we'll have another discussion.... and depending on the outcome take it from there

.... OK, while the frame is being sorted I thought it's a good time to overhall the hub and swingarm....
the arm is badly painted black and needs tidying (at least) swingarm bearings look quite new (which is a shame.... as i have a new set sat ,gathering dust, in my garage)
but was hoping bearings etc in hub would be OK
and guess what!! they are.....
BUT! ......
..........it looks like the eccentric hub itself is fit only for the bin *
*swears under breath, kicks something expensive & hopes loopy doesn't notice

Beautiful?... yes!
practical?... ......only if you like... bleeding knuckles, breaking bolts, swearing... s0dding off to the pub & cursing the day you decided to do "that simple five minute job"

Design exercise though - let's see if we can scrape 600cc power out of 916cc of an archaic engine design and then convince people to pay huge amounts of money for it?

Never thought they were as strong as a normal Double Sided Swingarm Arm is?
Let us know what you decide though

Stick with the SSSA and find a hub & rim or find a DSSA and a rim...
Hmmmm.
