| Re: big bird ! ok....another saturday...with a twist!
this is rapidly turning into a budget build...I'm being made redundant on thursday..so I thought I'd spend time in the garage sticking all the things together that I have already bought rather than pay for bespoke zorstpipes n stuff.
also the guy who was going to make a new subframe was sacked for ...err..making stuff for his mates!
so...today...
fitted new front wheel bearings
fitted throttle switches and brake lines
fitted hydraulic clutch line
fitted ( needs a bracket making) the oil cooler and lines from an X11
then went angle grinder crazy...
chopped the pipes down and slapped on a stubby end can ( still needs spinning round a little)
then took a slitter disc to the blackbird subframe...and played with the angles
two options...but one is the prefered...just need to make some brackets to keep it all together ( can't weld!)
then I got the loom out of the box...I hate electrics!
so currently the bike looks like a spewed up spaghetti all over it!
Budget bird will slow a little in its build...but hopefully it'll keep me sane!
anyone want to buy a car?...
gis a job....I can do that!

I got allot harder, and allot more dettermined. Pretty much didn't stop for anyhting that got in my way . I enjoyed it very much when I finished. All tuned and trick'd by me . No pictures right now. I got em on a 1.4 floppy that is secured to another old computer I no longer have. I got a friend that might be able to help with that. Just didn't bother with the floppy until now. I think you would like the pic's, so now I will try to open the floppy with my friends help. Maybe not just for you, but because now I have an interest in looking at something I put so much work and heart into again.

| Re: big bird ! Aye, matey, 'tis me.
Good to see you're well, even if job wise it's shite.
Good to see you're still riding - I'm still trying to drag my arse back onto a bike since I packed up racing. I've ridden the Gixer 600 (on the road) about 3-4 times - most of those were going to the TT and back.
BUT... this year I'm gonna get back on the bike. *
*(Copying SSB), Once I've fixed the rounded bolt on the sprocket carrier, (bastard thing decided to play hard ball with me when I went to change the sprockets, and I lost. Fecker.) but I've got a new one from the breakers now, (only took me 2.5 years) so that'll go on soon.
NB - I will be slow as shite when I first start riding. And my leathers stink. |

| Re: big bird ! Okay, so here it is. A 1992 GSXR 1100 RR. Polished frame, White brothers suspension mod (shock and forks), 430lbs, 145 hp, 180 mph. 36mm Mikuni smooth bore's with individual K&N's, Vance & Hines programable ignitor box,SupperTrapp stainless steel system with 20 disc's and open end cap. Cam's degreed both to 103 degree's. 5 degree advancer,Tranny gears cut and notched, taller 5th gear, braided brake lines and clutch line. Paint done by a close friend in Coarpus Christy Texas, all fiberglass. A security system too. "Beep! dont touch me", it said.
Engine work and frame work done by me. There are a few more tricks I did to the engine, but I wont bore you anymore with that. Put a plate on later after I took pictures. It was fun while it lasted. Yep, I got the 1.4 floppy to work.

| Re: big bird ! ok...been some time...so here's whats happened.
not much actually!
Project Dolebird...the spend available at the moment is...er...next to nowt!.
I need to buy an ignition switch. but can't justify it at the moment...life sux!
so...I might be hotwiring it:nocomment:
last update saw the engine in the frame and up on its own legs..
I had a box of wires but no idea where anything went!...kinda like a jigsaw puzzle with no box lid.
so I joined a blackbird forum..got some info and downloaded the service manual.
long story>short...
The engine carbs airbox coils and everything in the main engine area is in...
everything is plumbed and wired up...and ready to be butchered at the front and rear ends.
need a subframe welding...and sorting the lights etc at the front. and sort an oil cooler mount bracket
kinda coming together now!
all thanks to having no friggin job!!
lots of engine stuffed in..looks kinda ugly but brutal
I can see the finish line...wanna ride the frikkin thing:nodyes: |
