| Re: big bird ! ok...SSB wanted an update...
repositioned the battery, got the subby welded, cut the seat down and the foam.
made some plates for the reg rec and other electriery components
I need to build up the seat foam and mould it into the tank higher up.
also gonna make an undertray to hide it all.
a few other niggly jobs..new rearsets...
and waiting in the wings...a set of GSXR1000 K6 front end and the set of Spondon adjustable yokes that I'm not using on the Spondon Turbo build.
anyhoo....the pics... |

| Re: big bird ! Lovin the progress, been watchin for a while now.
I'm dying to find out how it goes.
I know it's not completely finished yet but I'm sure the finished article will be the dogs.
Is the underslung can finished? Looks a little sticky outy, maybe a few inches too long? could do with stopping in line with something - back of frame? IMHO.
Keep up the good work and keep us posted.
Cheers Slippery Sam |

Cheers Slippery Sam | can is what I have in the garage at the moment.
depends how it fuels. If I can't get it set up I might get something made up by a local zorst manufacturer.
remember this is just to amuse myself whilst the Spondon is away
just a bunch of left over parts bolted together!
the GSXR1000 wheel and discs turned up today.
but I really can't be arsed to fit the new front end...I'll put it on the shelf for now cos I need to spend on the Sponny. |

| Re: big bird ! friday night...bored...thought I'd post up some pics
not much progress as I've only had bout 3 hours on it in about 2 or 3 weeks
just been sorting out 'behind the scenes' stuff...mounting CDi and alarm box
and the rest of the electricity tubes..
also dummied up the undertray...need to find some steel or ally for the real thing...but just used the old undertray of the old blade to see how it would look. |

| Re: big bird ! a little progress...so a coupla pics cos I'm sat here bored.
after playing around with rads & oil coolers...I grabbed myself a GSXR1000 K6 rad and cooler mount. the rad is bigger than the blade one I was using before, so cooling issues should be less of a problem. just e-blagged an oil cooler for the bottom of the rad so mounting should be a breeze with the gsxr cooler mount i also eblagged.
the rad was a bit shite...so a bit of a rub down and 5 minutes being blasted with a rattlecan..and t looks ok. and i like the shape of it compared to the blade one, or the R1 rad I also have
took a bit of thought mounting the rad, but got it sorted after a brainwave whilst half asleep on sat morning!
last week i was messing with seat foam...but lost the will to live with it so left it till later. the pics show the first efforts with a stanley knife....not good!!!
once the oil cooler is here I reckon I'll be able to get it running!
just have to pipe up the resevoir that I'm stuffing behind the engine and work out which pipe goes where, including a pipe from deep in the front of the carbs/airbox...forgot where it was plumbed into...I'll work it out...somehow
anyhoo...
here's some pics |
