| servo flapper ?'s I have a 954. Was wondering about the airbox flapper and the exhaust butterfly, along with the servo that controls them. I have heard conflicting reports on the "removability-and-throw-it-awayness" of these items. Would be helpful to get a few opinions and get a consensus here. THX!

tommybike. | The HTEV is a rotary valve rather than a butterfly.
You can disconnect the cables and leave it in whichever of the three positions works best for your riding style. If you leave it in the 8000rpm+ position you'll notice some loss of midrange but it's not significant.
You can also remove the servo motor but you will have a permanent error light. It doesn't affect anything though.
Remove the airbox flapper as it does nothing anyway.

As in will it run rough or flat spot. So if I remove everything and go with a custom exhaust I really wont have much of an issue.
Sorry if this beats a dead horse. I have been digging in older threads tring to piece together the answer. My first honda since the 70's and all the zuk's are easily fuel mapped by just plugging up a yosh box with no need of a PC or something similar. So owning a bike that isnt so easy to remap without additional costs (which I dont want to incure at the moment or ever since im not chasing HP) im asking newb questions all over again on a 9 year old model. |

I don't understand why you say "plugging up a Yosh box" is easier or cheaper than a PC3 or what you mean by "additional costs" for remapping? How much does the Yosh box cost?

| Re: servo flapper ?'s 30 bucks when I had my suzuki remapped for my exhaust and pair mods at a dealer.
To buy one about like the PC back then, which I eventually went to when I bought another exhaust. Im just not going to go overboard on the 929 considering how old a model it already is. Just playing with it and having fun. |

Wouldn't that get annoying having to go somewhere whenever you want to try a different map?
You don't need to remap for a PAIR removal mod on any engine. If you do then it's not a true PAIR system. A PAIR system introduces fresh air into the exhaust gas _after_ combustion.

| Re: servo flapper ?'s I did everything at once. while I had the exhaust out of the way on that model. I had it mapped twice in 3 years, it wasnt too bad. So 60 versus close to 300. I see it being worth the time. When I had a PC I mapped it twice in 6 years. I should have paid the 60 bucks and saved 175 or bought a new tire. |

The serial PC3 is around the $180 mark I think.
