Small progress

mostly fine tuning the wiring , bars and gauges.

1st step just getting rid of what I thought I could drop.

mounting a headlight (wanted good glass bulbs for those rare moments getting caught out at night)

100 watt high 55 watt low , ended up brighter than stock lights !!

1st set ob bars, I really thought they were comfy to ride with, just not able to get comfortable in the mountain curves. Also almost 0 feed back on the front tire being so light.

cheap irror fix for legal reasons, and a smaller gauge

last shot of the old setup

new bar and getting rid of that massive front connector.

notice the custom hand made fairing bracket. Super easy to make with some aluminum a baking pan, hot water, a hand saw and drill.
I put some rubber backing on them, have been trimming it up a little at a time.

standard length brake lines again

and clutch rerouted a little

new bars and gauge mounting

Re: Small progress

BTW I took the bike up on the curvy stuff today and the feel of the front end was 100% better than the old bars.

I screwed up and got the brake lines too taughnt and cracked my front fender though. So Ill either fix it or replace it. Probably leaning to the replacement with maybe a nicer carbon or high quality fiberglass.

Re: Small progress

When I had the dirty bars on it , I didnt have standard lines completley. I used the left for the right and ran a double banjo on the right caliper and used a shorty hose (I could measure it) for the left caliper. With a direct fitting instead of the banjo fitting for better fluid transfer from the right to the left.

With the flat drag type bar the OEM lines (braided type) fit fine. I guess where the OEM clipons angled up the MC really isnt too far from where it was.

Re: Small progress

Yeah I would like to do something. Gotta replace that frent fender this week. Am working on a CF bit if I cant score that ill go with a good race fiberglass replacement that withstands a beating.

Im out to build something "fun" to ride at as low cost as I can. Not because im tring to be thrifty, just because everyone seems to think you have to throw thousands into a bike to be able to really have something. So my project bike is a wheel and deal and be creative and have something cool to play with at the lowest costs I can "keep" it at. As my boss likes to say , im not opposed to spending, but being creative with what I spend it on is sometimes just as important.

Im already itching to paint it more than anything

Re: Small progress

I had it back there, but it was a PITA to take off and put back on tring to tune it . (old bracket cracked) Might remount it back there tomorrow since its tuned with the new bracket and the wires long enough to reach now. I was being lazy and not wanting to remove the rad again.

Figures crossed I might have a new fender coming from a couple solutions.
