Streetfighters are OFFICIALLY cool

......

For those of you unsure about taking the plunge and stripping off them plastics, then hacking & welding away at your bikes to produce a Frankenstinian masterpice/monster* I say DO IT!

Why??.....

Because, not only, do you have a unique motorcycle tailored to your own personal tastes or perversions.. But you wont believe the comradery between Fighterers

I've been riding a good few years now... and over that time, I have really noticed the disapearance of "the nod". the diminished mixing of bikeriders....and I, personally, mourn the loss of those days

Once upon a time, anyone riding any bike would nod and speak to any other bike rider regardless what make or sized engine... It didn't matter how new your bike was or whether you could grind your pegs or if you could afford the latest upgrades and snazzy shiney bits... NO! all that mattered was you were a fellow rider of a two wheeled machine who shared the dangers and thrills that only motorcycles can offer...

Recently I'd come to believe.. not only is "the nod" becoming rarer but even many of those who do nod, do it without the passion.. it's thought of like helmet wearing... it's just summut you do!

& idol chatting to complete strangers seems also in danger of going the way of the Dodo..

Anyway.... in the last six weeks (since thundergod has been on the road) I've found the spirit is still alive and kicking amongst the fighter community

....

Everytime I take her out I get big friendly waves, thumbs up and on one occasion a salute

and discussions with complete strangers are again commonplace**

for instance...Today...

Me and Loopy went for a Little ride...

On our way to a local bike shop.. we got the usual occasional nod from some riders
After we had had a coffee at the bike shop and were about to head off.... a fellow rider, who worked up the road, came up for a nose and a chat about my fighter because he'd seen us ride past!

and on the jaunt back home I had a couple of nice waves...

Then just as I got to the edge of town & was entering the sliproad about to turn.. A triumph roared past, slowed alongsided me and gave me a massive thumbs up and wave before he carried on his merry way

It all makes me feel warm and fuzzy

Maybe it's not your bike they're interested in ;-)

The nod is still pretty normal down here. I've even had an occasional nod from motorcycle cops.

I actually wave at the cops all the time. Most times it brings a huge smile to their face and a return wave.

And I'll say, this post made me smile huge and reminded me of that comaraderie. You could pretty much count on being snubbed or even flicked off by Harley riders, but any other bike on the road garnered a wave back.

I'll toss up a couple of pics when my 900 is street legal again, it should fit the fighter catagory nicely

It's definatly dying out here.... for instance I've tried not nodding unless the passing motorcylist nods first...and not surprisingly.. even less do

The motorcycle cops here though are always more than friendly

I still like seeing the wave to other riders

I will say I have gotten more rider waves since I am riding the harley.

Hardley any one would give a wave back when I rode the rebel. I guess I'm still new at this as I will talk to any one and every one about riding. I even was standing in line to order take out food as my order was getting ready i was talking a guy about his bike.

I hear you, Thats why you have to just get it, stash it at a friends house for a while until you can come up with a real good excuse why you bought it, like "I just got a sick deal that I couldn't pass up!!!" They get pissed at first but eventually get over it, thats usually what I do.

There does seem to be a different...shall I say element of people on motorcycles these days, people don't buy bikes because they want to really ride or acquire a skill, its more to say "look how cool I am I have a motorcycle" It is more to sooth their insecurity, therefore no nod or wave. On the other hand a person on a fighter is into bikes more for the sake of wanting to ride which in turn creates a different respect. imo

I'm of the 'love my bike, love riding' mentality.. I simply can't imagine a life without my bike now

I'll nod at pretty much anyone I see simply because they are on 2 wheels, although notice that not many nods are returned

Same here as a creature of habit I nod or wave to anyone on two wheels, I have since the first time I touched two wheels to pavement because I thought it was what everybody did, but there is much less response these days, I just do not get it.

They're not true bikers, they have bought a bike because its cheaper than a car all round and use it as they have no other choice.....bloody half wits should stick to 4 wheels

That's news to me :-)
I could possibly run some 250's for the same as it costs to run a car but nothing bigger and certainly not a sportsbike.

I knew I should have been more precise, even after re-reading my post. But I still let it go

What I was trying to say was that you can pick up a 'Second-hand' bike of all cc's for very little money compared to that of a lot of cars with similar performance. Well thats how it works where I'm from.
