SSB, just saw this and thought of you...

Re: Dr. Stein grows "funny creatures"

Present job location will dictate when. I got about a year to get the parts. then I will be in a place without regular travel and life wont be on hold.
The biggest trick will be to find an engine. From here I will stop. No more talk. Just about when you forget about it, I will probably start.

Re: Dr. Stein grows "funny creatures"

The swing arm is a perfect place to polish. Have I mentioned anything about bank robbery? Of course, you could use a power tool for this part of the project. Magnetic base high torque drill with a carbide/diamond oxide bit, to cut into tumbler box on the safe door. .........*
Okay, I gotta go.

Yep, I know the frame will take allot more work. When I polished my Gixxer, I used a buffer after I sanded the coating off. I used Mothers polish, comes in a red and white container. Gives a chrome like finish. I used 400gritt and 800gritt paper, then Mothers polish with a buffer for hours. Nice, shinny finish.

well I wern't riding her...

anyway.....

Due to the typicaly unreliable british weather and the urge to get summut* done.....

the plan to start repositioning the swingarm was shelved** and I decided to make up an undertail because.....
A) it could be done inside in the warm
B) I need to find out how much room I'll be left with to position other things
C) it could be done in the warm
D) I couldn't think of anything else i could do without spending alot of time in & out of the krappy weather
& finaly
E) because I'd done it before....

yep i've now started the recycling of ideas***..... anyone who's read my other fighter thread will know how this goes..

so quick version
first I made a template outa card, then cut it outa perspex and fitted.. thats it

except this time I decided to use proper fittings from the start**** and bought some well nuts which once inserted into the sub frame give me a nice tight fit
still need to add another couple of mounting points under the seat area, tidy up a bit add the black tint but you get the idea

here some pics*****

*anything as long as it didn't involve getting wet
**pending better weather
***maybe because... i couldnt think of another way, maybe because... I liked the clean tidy look it gave me to Thundergods rear end
****Forgot about these last time and had to botch it later
*****last one is Thundergods tail for comparison & for those who ainy seen it

Re: Dr. Stein grows "funny creatures"

The big tire will throw allot of stuff up into the tail. Probably need some armor plating to protect the back side. Maybe, some Carbon fibre/Lycra/Airramid laminate's will do it. Yep, plastic or fibreglass, thats fine, fibreglass, yep, just fibreglass* big tire, road grime, yep, gotta cover up the tail,
