| blown engine? good exuse to start another fighter. fak me hell! another blown engine. stripped my '00 blade the other night and got to thinking about all the crazy looks i use to get on my 98 blade fighter and thought fak it, lets do it again. if somthing is fun to do it's usually more fun to do naked right? (well usually, i don't recomend welding naked don't ask me how i know) . anyway i'm gonna be building wicked motor for it over the next couple months so i've got time to work it all out.
so here's a pic of the soon to be hooligen, i need some fresh ideas, i went the full german route last time and it was insanly expensive but worth it however with the engine rebuild taking most of the budget i'm going to have to fighter it on the cheap. (can you say ebay!)

Sitting for a couple of hours porting nude (due to the summer heat - you don't get that where you are though) and upon standing up discovering you have a lap full of aluminium chippings - you know right away it was a big mistake :-)

It works on Mormons and Witnesses doorknocking as well :-) | mormons for sure, i'd been out for a ride on a hot day and was toweling down in the garage when two of those wankers rolled up on bicycles, you can imagine their suprise when they find me with my leathers pulled down to my ankles and my hairy sweaty arse exposed for all to see .
pulling my crank this after noon to see how bad the damage is. i'm sending it to APE for the mill work, they said they'll let me know on tuesday if we're doing a stroker or not(depends on the damage). either way that crank will be bullet proof when it comes back. i got my eye on some carillo rods but i have to wait for the report on the crank before i can start buying parts. the fighter portion of this build will be done long before the engine i think. my bike won't look that much different than 929adam's because all my bikes end being black although i'm planning on leaving the polished frame and swing arm as is. i've had an idea to use a k4 gsxr1000 race tail, head lights i'm not sure yet........... hmmmmmmm, what do ya think? |

As long as they stick to reality I don't mind chatting with them actually. You have to repsect their dedication to toss all that money into a lottery just to end up spending a year in some godforsaken place knocking on people's doors every day. A Texan guy told me he hasn't found Perth to be very different from home :-)

my dad is from Rockhampton and i'm always supprised when i see more rednecks there than when i'm here in the states, it is kind of the same (kinda).
almost forgot i started this thread, i pulled the whole motor apart tonight and discoverd a serious crack in the block, most likely have to scrap it for another one. i'm considering getting a used lump off ebay just so i can go forward with the fighter build but i want the bitch to fast first and look good second, so i'll have to do some scrounging around and see what i can find.
just in case anybody is interested i'm typing this naked with the blinds open and there's not a mormon in sight damnit! |

If you're planning to bore it then I'd also suggest starting with a 100% good block. If you're just doing bottom end and head work though, I'd try welding it up first.

I liked the original idea of a stock bottom end with a built head but now i need a good block to start with. |

| Re: blown engine? good exuse to start another fighter. Ok, just an update on the blade fighter, got the crank checked out and its good so it will be going to get reworked this week. i'm not doing the stroker so the money was going to go into the head but i got side-tracked and bought an 05 gsxr 600 because i was about to go on a killing spree with my AK47 from lack of seat time. so with the head budget blown on the new ride i'm going to throw some street cams in it and call it good. it won't be quite the monster i had in mind but with the cams and a good tune it should give me the 150hp i've been looking for. i've done some work to the sub frame to fit the gixxer tail i picked up, i'll post some pics when i get a chance to take some, i'm more into riding than wrenching right now...... more to come........ |

| Re: blown engine? good exuse to start another fighter. its an original 929 belly pan...modified!
whats up with it man? i was hoping your damn motor was going to be built...I'm looking into doing up the motor on my polished bike 929...but I've never seen much other than tit. valves and springs. you mentioned doing your crank and rods...
what else?? can I use a 954 cyl. with the 929 crank?? or increase the 929 to 954..or possibly even 955??? (i have a triumph 955 rim i'm hoping to fit to it)
what about velocity stacks on the 929, what kind of power do those let out??
pcIII still the way to go, i assume???
what about putting some 1000RR Fuel Injectors on it???
maybe i could make the motor snort cocaine?!? i want this biatch to rip! haha |

The 929 and 954 cranks are the same so you can stroke either of them.
Velocity stacks, maybe 1-2% depending on how the rest of the motor is working.
I can't see any problem with running 1000RR twin-injector throttle bodies but you'd want to run the entire electrics if you want the system to work as it does on the 1000RR. I think I've read about somebody running them on a 929 but just using one of the injectors. I'm running 954 throttle bodies on my 929.

| Re: blown engine? good exuse to start another fighter. I forgot all about this thread, here's what i got so far: block has been bored 2 over and re-chromed (whatever that means), the pistons and rods are on order from ap and the crank came this week. the head is far from complete, as of now i haven't taken it apart yet but it will be getting some cams and a valve job as well as a healthy dose of porting and polishing. i'm considering a custom cam profile as i've been told the street cams don't make much difference and the drag cams are too peaky. tuning will be done via pcIII and an ignition box. the engine builder is sure the stock injectors will do the job as long as i'm under 180whp.
thats about it, i'll put some pics up later this week but progress will be very slow do to lack of work and funds, i'm predicting 7 to 8 months to complete the bike. |

| Re: blown engine? good exuse to start another fighter. yeah, i didnt find sh*t when i looked. bladeracer told me about CBRZONE.com. they got some stuff and offer all the machine work but the turn around time was too long. one of the guys i ride with recommended a local drag bike builder who is currently doing all my work. he raced a 900rr for ten years so he knows his stuff.
stroker rods came (shhhweeeeet). just waiting for pistons now. took the head apart (lots of pieces), going to buy a set of oem cams and have them reground. Tony, the engine builder is trying to sell me his old turbo set up but i'm pretty set on an n/a engine for reliability sake. had a turbo busa and loved it but it's a pain in the a$$. more later.......... |
