| Re: World's Fastest Tomato I know his next bike, the Ten Kate Edition CBR1000RR. I just read the article on it in the Oct issue of Sport Rider, 203 RWHP (on the Superbike, 179.9 on the "street" version) and the rev limiter kicks in with it still building power. I can't wait to see what it gets when they get their ECU finished and dump the Power Commander. He's just gotta get up the nerve to tell the woman he's gonna spend $30k on another bike. then have to import it to the US

| Re: World's Fastest Tomato Would anyone believe me if I said I'd rather die a slow, painful death than buy another bike anytime in the near future?
No, probably not.
How about this then? I WILL die a slow, painful death if I buy another bike anytime in the near future.
Never say never, but at some point it's gotta stop. There ain't anything any more powerful feeling than a 'busa ( 100 ft-lbs torque is terribly addictive) and this bike is proving to be something my other sportbikes weren't: (a) exciting in stock form and (b) comfortable.
I even bought a 4-year extended warranty through Suzuki, my first ever extended warranty purchase on a new bike. Yeah, this one probably stays, so help me God. (I'm actually invoking the name and asking for the assistance of the Big Cowboy, so no teasing! )

-Chain | I won't contest the "comfortable" comment but if you don't find riding a 636 in stock form exciting, then you ain't riding it right... |

For the sort of riding I do (not on the track, but in a combination of wide open spaces and select hidden treasures of rolling hill country spotted with relatively high speed sweepers), the 636 didn't prove as fun as something you don't have to spin as hard to make progress on.
The Hayabusa is alot like a big twin. A very big twin. I rarely shift out of top gear when blitzing the twisties in the 200 miles of Loess Hills two-laners which exist between Sioux City, IA and Rockport, MO.
To quote Sport Rider magazine from their road test of the 'busa in 2002: "1300cc good for 100 foot-pounds of torque and nearly 160 horsepower in stock form. And it's not about peak numbers, either. The 'Busa only needs to loaf along at 5500 rpm to overpower all middleweights; just 1000 rpm later, it's making more jam than the GSX-R750. And at 8000 rpm (with 2500 to go) even more than the mighty GSX-R1000's peak. But equally as impressive is the GSX package-yes, it's heavy, but surprisingly agile and well-mannered."
I dunno Tiger, I guess I sorta feel like I've got my cake and am eating it too. Unbelievable performance regardless of what gear I'm in coupled with genuine daylong comfort to boot.

I did ride my buddy's ZX12 once and was surprised at how well it did handle (being what it is). I was really glad to get back on my RC51 though for the front-end feel and lack of wallowing. To each his own. |

As soon as they have it, I'll have a Bagster like you and the Conqster. |

LOL, that's a bit of a relative term doncha think, Tiger? The 12's got an aluminum monocoque frame, thick USD forks, heavily braced swingarm, etc. I dare say "wallowing" isn't something the average rider can perceive on such a machine, the Busa either.
Damn, there I go taking your bait again. I'm too easy. |

Having said that, I have seen a busa circle Jennings (a very tight track) at quite a fast rate. Its tires didn't make it through the day, but he was still fast. All that torque and all that weight and a tire sponsorship is a must. |

desicions stick much better when made for the right reasons, if your out riding, that is the most important thing.
