I'm really happy w/ my bike so so far although I only have about 350 miles on it thanks to my job and the weather. I do really like the looks of mine though.
For the record I'm thinking about going w/ a Ben Spies replica look for the street. The track version will follow my "One day to be unveild" warbird racing scheme.

| Re: New GSXR 1k unveiled I agree that its actually kinda ugly. the can HAS to go, they have to cover the air intakes with some fairing and the fairing looks a little funny with the color scheme, almost as if the blue is a separate piece from the white. it has too much of a "futuristic" look. the 05 Kawi 600s on the other hand look awesome.

The R1 is still the most sexy "availlable" jap bike around. |

| Re: New GSXR 1k unveiled There is no way that Suzuki is gonna put that ugly can on the real production model. Beyond the obvious uglier-than-stegen's-shaved-ass looks, it hangs low and out. MAJOR corner clearance issues. Not gonna happen, and I for one doubt that is how the bike will look overall in reality anyway. |

| Re: New GSXR 1k unveiled The can still is able to be taken off! I am all for the shorter wheelbase and the up in cc. Give everyone a reason to take it up a notch. Hey...wonder how long til the 1000cc's will become boring, and the re-birth of the a sick 750cc class or the 900's will come out again! shooting from the hip...but it's happend before. |

| Re: New GSXR 1k unveiled Well, I believe it's an artist's rendering of what they've HEARD from Suzuki about what it will look like. Okay, there is NO way that can will make it to production. Also, who the hell wants turn signals in their mirrors on a race rep? Blech
To me it looks like a mix of 04 bikes (the headlight of a 600/750) and some guesswork for the rest. If they really want the funky exhaust why not just put a Yosh TRS on there? It's the same shape and it looks a lot better. |

| Re: New GSXR 1k unveiled Uh, from what some of "those in the know" over at gixxer.com, this apparently may be the real deal.
Here's a side pic. I think they got the exhaust off of the Burgman 650. http://www.motocorse.com/pd/albums/S...%202005/01.jpg

| Re: New GSXR 1k unveiled Well, if that is it, I guess Suzuki listened more to their #1 market segment - the stunna crowd. Stubby pipe, integrated clear lens blinkers (that will come right off with the mirrors anyway).
On a positive note, it looks like the swingarm pivot is adjustable, and the forks are coated. |

The Gixxer is extremely popular at the local racetracks. The one advantage of the blinkers and mirrors integration would be that they could come off and save weight easily. Also, the pipe, while stubby, looks like a Yosh TRS with more ground clearance.
Oh, and the forks are coated now. They have been since the 1000 came out. They were Titanium Nitride for the first gen (01/02) and the 03/04 have DLC (diamond like carbon).

| Re: New GSXR 1k unveiled I hope the mirrors won't be too easy to take off, b/c frankly, I believe they will be expensive to replace, and some yahoo will just grab them off you at night. Ugh.
I actually don't hate the pipe. Sure it's an odd duck, but think of all those years where you wished you had a potato launcher, and now it's free with an 05 gixxer. I'm definitely going to stuff a wad of paper in there and then shoot it out for jokes.
