Don't go with Akra for the name man, many times and most that I've seen lately, they aren't the solid choice. Their gains are typically up high. I bet there is a better choice. |

| Re: Useless busa trivia Who cares what the HP rating is? Its a BUSA, it doesnt need anymore horsepower, especially for what Chains purposes are. It is however a very good looking, and sounding pipe. Its like with the RC's. Everyone raves about the Satos and the power they make... Personally, I think they look like ass and dont have near the finish of Akras or Aratas... Now for someone who wants to squeeze every .1oth of a hp out of a bolton to the RC, or unleash that thunderous boom that they are known for, thats great. But for someone who is looking for a decent sounding nice looking pipe to accent their bike, I say go for what tickles your fancy. My 929 had an Akra, my next RC will have Akras, thats what I like and Im not chasing HP #'s, rather a nice smooth curve.
Now I am not condemning those of you with the Satos. I know I have broken the holy RC commandments by saying this, but I just plain dont like how they look. If they turn you on, great, they just dont do anything for me. As for Yoshis... I have yet to hear one that sounded worth a damn in my opinion. They all sound like a somewhat civil D&D. Maybe I have yet to hear a good ones, but all my friends that have Gixxers stuck up their asses, that is all they know because crybaby Maladin has one...

As Niner stated, the bike is hand-of-god powerful in stock form. It/I surely don't need any more hp or torque. A quiet bike is nice for touring anyway (as well as starting up in the driveway for my 5:45 a.m. commute, thus not waking the whole neighborhood up).
After researching it some though, maybe the best reason to keep the factory exhaust on the busa is, virtually every one of the Hayabusa owners I've talked to have experienced at least a little bit of a reduction in low rpm throttle reponse after they went aftermarket.
No thanks. Right off idle, this sucker has the torque to pull a house off its foundation. I like it just the way it is.

The angles on the 117 were driven by the (meager) computing power available to the designers to crunch numbers. They basically only had 2-d capability so they had to segment the airplane. For the B2 (not a Skunkworks plane BTW), computer and stealth technology had moved along and they were able to simiulate curved surfaces and calculate the angles needed.
If you want to read a very interesting book about that stuff, check out this book. It's a pretty fun read, especially if you are a techy/engineer type. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...792418-0731319 |

Check this out. A speed shop specializing in drag racing takes a brand new GSX-R1000 and a brand new Hayabusa, add essentially the same exact bolt-ons to each (full Ti Force pipe, PCIIIr, extended swingarm and air shifter), add considerable horsepower for so little modification, and shave big time off the bikes' respective ET's.

Speaking of interesting dark places (to further continue the threadjack) this one would have to make the list as well. |

Chris | True. Also there is a difference between frontal cross section and effective frontal cross section. When you look at a F117 check the angles, this is meant to scatter the radar signal that is reflected.
The radar has a threshold power that must be exceeded to be detected. This signal strength is from returned signal (effective frontal area) and frequency shift (speed difference).
Of course on any road vehicle the biggest obstacle to radar stealth is the headlight bucket, as the intakes where for the F117. The other is your chest if you are not in a tucked position, although unlike the headlight bucket this can be easily changed.
