| Re: GSXR 1000 frame splits in 1/2 while doing 20 mph anyone else pick up on being in the ICU and only having $7000 in medical bills. those bills add up fast as hell and if he was in the ICU then he was obviously at the hospital for atleast a few days being examined.
the whole story is BS except for the frame splitting.

Man that sucks... Suzuki's "own the racetrack" as long as your frame doesn't snap in half... I have always heard good things about GSXR-1000's, sure glad I got a honda.. Seems like to many people has had this problem before.. I hope Suzuki makes it right with everyone... |

| Re: GSXR 1000 frame splits in 1/2 while doing 20 mph Its a known serius problem of the new gsxr (k5 +).Here in Greece i know at least 4 cases that had the exact same frame cut,in the exact same place.
1 i have seen for my self, the bike was INTACT...it was only cut in 2 pieces, the driver was simply rolling when it happend and he didnt even fell...the bike just split in 2.You would have to see the bike for your eyes to believe it.There is also a similar problem on the suzuki's new GSR bike...do a search on italian forums.A bike dealer friend of mine told me that it is happening VERY often and its probably due to poor quality controll and trying to b as light weight as possible.... |

| Re: GSXR 1000 frame splits in 1/2 while doing 20 mph I have a full service shop and do work fo rth edealerships too and I have seen a hlfh dozen broke the exact same place and the welds had 0 penetration. I even saw a live video of a guy on the track braking for a hard turn and the frame brok in half at the weld. The dealerships I do work for sneak the bikes in the back and try to not let anyone see them. |

If these were breaking through "normal conditions" there would have been a lot more broken frames. I bet the frames that have broken have either previously been in a wreck or severely abused. |

| Re: GSXR 1000 frame splits in 1/2 while doing 20 mph no way he was doing 20-25 mph. like you said...he had to have much more speed if he slided trough mailbox into neighbors yard and ended up at ICU. if frame broke at speed of 20 mph the bike and the rider would fall aside and he would slike for maybe 10 meters or less and in the video he covered much more. but frame shouldnt broke in any situation. thats is not right either. |

| Re: GSXR 1000 frame splits in 1/2 while doing 20 mph i bought my bike brand new and it was not "abused". it simply snapped due to the company designing a hole to mount the horn. when you tap a hole to thread it, you weaken the metal. i have a lawyer that connected me up to a few other people who have had this problem....... one guy is a quadrapalegic and blind from his accident, and he has rode for 25+ years. If anyone out there has a bike that has done this, i already haave a lawsuit versus Suzuki & all of the metalergist and design engineers have already inspected the bikes that are involved....... call me and get in on it, atleast you'll get enough out of it to get a new bike, hopefully not a Suzuki!!! | Re: GSXR 1000 frame splits in 1/2 while doing 20 mph Wow! I have a cousin who has that very same bike. It is the same year, displacement and color. I am going to email him that article. Suzuki does half-ass put some of their bikes together. I have a friend who owns a 2006 Hayabusa is currently suing Suzuki for his accident he had on his bike. He bought the bike from the stealership and took it home and rode it 6 miles and crashed it. It was determined that the center nut that holds the tripple tree was not there when he bought the bike. when the bike was wrecked the threads on the bolt where the nut should have been were not stripped nor did it look like the nut was ever there. Suzuki is stalling by rescheduling depositions and court dates, I don't think it will go to court. Suzuki will try and settle out of court. |

He might have been going 20 after skidding on his foot peg, hitting the curb, going through the mailbox...... |
