I have a 05 GSX-R750 (bought new March of 05). Not buzzy at all, and that is after switching from an 02 954. If you really like the bike I suggest going to a different dealer (or possible the same dealer), and getting a test ride. Of course the 06 could be different, but seems unlikely.

Remember the 1st time you rode the 929 them times that by 10.These things are so much better with all the same traits as the 929,plus an xtra 20hp.
Better brakes,handling,grunt........everything.
My biggest problem compared to the 929 is that I am so happy with it I can't find anything I want to do to it......well maybe just some Carrozzeria wheels

Congrats on your 06 1000RR. My little window of buying a new bike may have passed now. I'm using my home equity for deck wrapping from the front to the side with a second level added. Well, I'm waiting for the quote anyway, I'm having the Timberteck composite (low maintenance) decking quoted.

I know, I know, champagne taste with beer budget.

There's nothing wrong with the 929 and I have lots of goodies already wrapped up in it, so, I may have to wait for yet another year or so.

Gotta run, later.

As a matter of fact, even at idling I was already getting worried.

Like I said before, it's just me, no way would I own a bike that buzzed so bad that my hands, feet, ass went numb after 3 minutes, even if it was a rocket.

Believe me, I wanted this bike for so long, I was severely disappointed.

I hated the exhaust note, sounded like lawn mower exhaust.
I recently bought a new 06' GSXR 750 and at first feel of the buzz described was not sure of if I could deal with this as well. As soon as the bike was broken in (300) miles before taking to the track, and ridden for 600 track miles quickly discovered the buzz was no longer relevant at normal riding speeds. One must either short shift to keep the buzz down for street riding or run it through the gears bringing the rpm up above 7-8k to avoid the buzz.
This bike is a truly amazing machine and handles so well not to mention the slipper clutch rocks!

I have been riding my 00' 929 for 5+ years and raced it for one full season. I have Ohlins forks and shock, Brembo quad piston calipers, BrakeTech full floating rotors, PVM master, this 929 is dialed but still I enjoy riding my GSXR more!

Of course I didn't have to give up one for the other so it was a much easier to settle for a little buzz.

Just my 2 cents worth ?

I just picked up a 2006 750 last night. Man the thing is just awesome. A friend allowed me to pick it up while he is in Iraq, to work on some repairs. Feels stronger than my RC, i guess it is the way the power comes in. Tried real hard acceleration and the thing didnt even wheelie (i am 290), just get down and go. It feels like a great learner with just loads of power. My girl is getting a red and white one now.

sorry to threadjack a little here, but I have an '05 GSXR600, and it's almost silent at lower speeds, all you hear is a little bit of exhuast note, and some intake noise..... until you twist the throttle W.F.O.

First off, the manager would not allow "test rides" that day. The sales person stated it depended on his mood.

Anyway, I took a vacation day and stripped the 929 of some after market goodies and drove down there.

The GSXR750 was just beautiful to look at, I mean it was kick ass looking. I did a lot of reading of reviews in most of the magazines and all the reviews were excellent (except for one thing).

So when I arrived at the dealership the manager STILL wouldn't allow a test drive although I had the title to the 929 and a check for the difference in hand. He stated I had to sign all the paperwork and if I didn't like it I could cancel the deal.

Off I went. I immediately noticed serious buzzing in the grips and foot pegs. I wasn't crazy at all with the exhaust note, maybe it would grow on me, way way different than I expected for an inline 4.

The power was very linear, and the bike was serious fast even keeping it down during break-in rpm range.

But the buzzing! My God.

I drove back into town and pulled over. Was it going to get better? Was I going to just have to get used to it and live with my fingers tingling/numb and my feet as well? It seemed the higher up in the rpm the less vibration, or maybe I was just concentrating on the speed instead. The bike was considerably lighter and easier to turn (obviously), and the suspension was nice considering the HUGE bumps on St Rt 14.

Nope. I couldn't do it. I'd rather have my 929 (or another Honda) than make payments on this beautiful but too annoying Gixxer.

I did a U turn and hauled ass back to the dealer. I was wondering what to do if they were jerks and refused to cancel the deal. By the way, that bike is diseavingly fast! My fingers and toes were numb by this time.

Long story short, the manager was OK and returned everything. He still wanted a sale on another bike but I was mentally exhausted. I really considered keeping the 750 but I think I made the right decision (for me).
Why didn't ANY of the magazines mention the buzziness? I'm serious, riding that thing was like holding my 32cc weed wacker. I'm not exaggerating, it was as buzzing as that weed wacker (that eventually makes my hands go numb, too large of a property to take care of).

I apologized to my baby, over and over, and had a nice (much smoother) ride back home.

By the way, I'll never complain about the 929's minor buzzing anymore.
It has taken me about two or three months to find this thread again after seeing it while looking to sell my 929rr and buy a 06 gsxr 750. Well I'm bringing it back to life just to tell SuperDave he should be apologizing to 06 750 for judging her after only a hour, what a clown, but that's his loss. The buzziness that SuperDave refers to is a fuel flutter at about 4000-5000 rpms it disappears at about 6000 rpms and is nonexistent when you install a PCIII.... damn cummuters. The front suspension on the 929's and 954's are weak, bottoming out while braking hard and is a joke compared to 750's front suspension. Trail braking is a sketchy feet on a 929, always wanting to stand up in and at the apex of a turn. The constant flex of the swingarm at heavy lean angles does not help that situation either that why Honda ditched it and it has gone the way of the dodo. Honda improved the 954 with a better swingarm and redesigned the fame for better corning and give it some more HP, but kept the crappy forks. 06 gsxr 750 totally trumps both the 929 and 954 suspensions, for that matter so do the 02,03,04 and 05 gsxr 750's. I'm wondering how you didn't notice that you weren't sitting on a plank on your one hour tour. That was one of the first good things I noticed. Well your missing out on a great bike with not many flaws....... but I do miss my Honda's Fuel Injection.....so smooth through out the power band.

a very large dealership in eastern ohio wouldn't let me test ride a certain 954 i had my eye on in cycletrader. i found a much nicer deal with lower miles very clean and some tasteful aftermarket goodies from a private seller. a motivated seller. hey dealerships out there!! LET ME RIDE BIKEY, MAYBE YOU SELL A BIKEY. but thank you for treating me like sh1t on the whole matter anyway. found the perfect deal as soon as i got home. take your inventory of over 1000 bikes and atvs and shove them all up your a$$

Honda didn't ditch the 929 swingarm on the 954. All they did was lighten one side of it...flex was never an issue with it. The frames are unchanged from the 929 to 954 models...nothing was redesigned.

Honda's fuel injection has been notoriously notchy (VFR800, CBR929-954, RC51). They made improvements with the first gen 600RR's and 1000RR's, but only now seem to have gotten it right with the 2007 CBR600RR.

My three stress cracked wheel huggers would disagree. the fashionable hole you see on the 954 swingarm and with removing the vertical weld and increasing the height of that side lightened in up as well making it more ridgit. the sub-frame was moved 6in up from the 929 to move more of the riders weight closer to the front wheel and create a more aggressive riding position changing the characteristics of the 954's handling.
Now to the FI. This was a comparison to the 06 750. The 750 only feels right is when your totally gasing it, even with the PC. So in comparison my 929 was all around smoother, but it was notchy

I believe its Suzuki's strict adherence to a theme. If you look like you're riding a big, black and yellow bumblebee, then you should also feel like you've saddled up a 400 lb bee. LOL

hey guys......i have a 07' gsxr 600.....about 400 miles.....ive seen this thread before and it didnt affect my purchase. the first 100 miles was pretty good, i guess or it might of been that i was going really slow since it was my first bike. well now i am actually going the speed limit and the buzzing is there. it ****in sucks. i did a 150mile trip the other day and my hand felt like it was going to fall off from the numbness caused from the buzz. i only get the buzz in the right handle bar. i get some in the pegs, but i can only notice them if i really think about it. it is always there, even in 6th doing 50mph. i really like the bike but is there anything i can do????

Yup, mine buzzes like crazy, too. Eh, it's a 600, and mine's for the track, so I don't care. For the street, heavier bar ends should help. Not sure what to do about the pegs.

For heavy bar ends, check Hudson Valley Motorsports Parts - Motorcycle Handle Bar Ends to Reduce Vibrations
