dirty dan | Your dad eh?
What is his experience level? The GSXR 600 is a great bike, but not for someone who isn't familiar with current (2002 and later) 600cc sportbikes. The last GSXR 600 I ran was a most excellent motorcycle once you began running it between 11K and 15K. Below that, you might as well be on a Honda Elite . . .
Did I mention it would put you on your ass in a heartbeat if you don't know what you are doing? |

Then you can cry you got stomped be a sissy bike.
OK back on topic:
I have not ridden the 07' but do have an 05' and love it. Very smooth and reliable, easy to set up. Parts and upgrades are easy to get ahold of. Any of the modern 600 sportbikes are good machines. |

Daniel, I ride an 04. Same as hammer's 05. The zooks are great bikes. Popular among the club and pro racers. The 07 seems to have been slower to catch on, I think mainly b/c of the popularity of the new R6. Regardless, they are great bikes. Not the best street bike. I think your dad will be disapointed going from a 929 to a new 600. The newer 600's really need to have their necks wrung, and the ergos are awful for the street.

600s are for sissies. Everyone knows that all 600 riders want to move up to a 1000 within a couple months. Nobody ever rides both and prefers 600s. They are for girls. |

| Re: gsxr 600 For street riding: another 929/954, a zx12R, SV650 if he doesn't mind the power loss, Honda 919 ..... really depends on what you want. I'm not too familiar with the 07 models cause I never buy new.
The GSXR 600 is not good for the street because it makes all its power in the high RPM range. A bike that has more low end grunt is more fun to ride on the street. |

| Re: gsxr 600 If he is wanting a Sport bike I would go with a 1000. But he will have to endure the ergo's that go with that. If he is wanting something more ergo friendly look at a sport touring type of bike.....Vstrom,VFR,etc....
Take time with him and just go look and see what fits him best. |

| Re: gsxr 600 If he gets a 600 just ride it at 6 to 7 k all the time. They are plenty fast when ridden right. I would be looking at the New 07 Cbr600rr in repsol colors (i heard they are faster!)
Ever looked at the FZ1000 or soon to come out Suzuki B-king thats gonna be one badass naked bike. i just hope they don't over detune the thing for max low end. |

great bike if you can stay in a turn all day. otherwise way too uncomfortable. the center of the front of the seat is way too high for the postioning of the handlebars, made me sit on my jewels. talk about uncomfortable. Quote:

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt. I think we've found ourselves a good one.
Daniel, pay no attention to the snide remarks. We get a lot of squids and trolls and it's easy to be cynical. You've asked a lot of good questions. Keep it up.
