advice needed after dropping a GSXR600...

first of all...happy new year.
my son had his 2005 GSXR 600 slide out from under him the other night. fortunately he is is fine. we attributed this to cold weather, cold tires etc. i helped him install a new clutch shifting lever and alternator cover as those got damaged in the drop. the question is that after i fixed this, he says that something just does not feel quite right on right turns. that it feels like the back wants to still slide out. the drop was at a very low speed (less than 5 mph) but it did slide and fortunately the frame sliders did their job. i have looked at everything, checking the rear tire adjustment marks as well as looking to see whether the frame could have sustained some damage but there was no indication that the frame had any damage and the marks all lined up perfectly. not a mark on it. i decided to take it for a test drive myself and to me everything checks out fine. i even rode behind him to see whether i noticed anything different with rear wheel but all seemed fine. i was even thinking that maybe there could be some residual oil or grease from the road or something on the tire that remained on it after that drop but if there was i would seem to think that i would have felt it when riding but didn't. also, on close inspection of the tire it appears to be clean but maybe this is deceiving. this is his first bike and first accident and i am thinking that it could be a mental block he may have re: the accident. he says he is going to take it in to have it checked out and i told him that that was fine because he has to feel comfortable. i would appreciate any comments by you experienced riders out there on what you think he may be feeling when when riding. thanks in advance for any input you may have.

I had a slow speed lowside on the track w/ my 04 GSXR 600 and found out later that the frame was shortened in the crash. There's very good chance that the frame isn't straight anymore. Looks for a shop that does GMD Computrack or something similar. They can measure it and straighten it for you.

Around 03-04 the frames started getting very light and fragile. Small crashes would cause more damage than expected.

it could be what HD said and it could also be the mental thing. could be both. if it is just the mental thing it will just take some more saddle time to get through it.

Maybe the new engine cover is leaking oil on the tire when the engine is running. (it might not have sealed well)

I would guess it's a mental thing. Too know for sure take the bike to GMD and have them measure the frame.

Mental block was the first thing I thought when reading your post. If you rode the bike and didn't notice it but your son still did... why not put him on a friends bike and ask him if that one feels like the back is sliding out?
