| GSXR 1000 gets bike of the year Two Wheels magazine in Australia has given the Suzuki GSXR 1000 the "boty" award in 2007.
The contenders for the award were
BMW 1200 R
Ducati Hypermotard 1100
Ducati 1098s
Honda CBR600RR
Kawasaki 1400GTR
KTM Superduke 990
Suzuki Bandit 1250s
Suzuki GSXR 1000 K7
Triumph Tiger 1050
Judging criteria was based on the following
"must advance motorcycling in Australia in some way or being a significant new model or by representing a major improvement over an existing model."
So would you have chosen these 9 as the significant bikes of 07? And is the GSXR1000 worthy? Hmmmm
Here is the quote from the conclusion in the magazine, it all makes sense until you get to the very last sentence - "One motorcycle that blends performance, technology, quality and value that sets it apart from the other. One motorcylce is the 2007 twowheels bike of the year. That motorcycle is the GSXR1000K7." |

| Re: GSXR 1000 gets bike of the year I think the Editors are on crack because everyone else is picking the CBR600RR with the 1098 coming in pretty high also. most of the mention of the big gixxer is "overweight pig"

+1 on both statements.
It's not all that, have ridden it and would keep my 1000RR even if I was offered even trade for one.

| Re: GSXR 1000 gets bike of the year Given the list of contenders, then I would have to agree with giving the K7 BOTY award. I do like that hypermotard though and having rode it around, I had alot of fun on it. 600RR is surely a big improvement and a great track oriented bike, but not enough to give BOTY award to. |

| Re: GSXR 1000 gets bike of the year I do agree. The K7 has gained alot of weight. That said, the chassis and engine are so superb that the loss of flickability is mitigated. There is a difference between it and the K6. However, it still has a motor that is only touched by the 10R's monster motor. The suspension/chassis coupled with a strong engine is easily justifed in taking BOTY. |
