Re: thinking of getting a 750 katana

I had a '99 600 Kat and it was bulletproof. Air cooled motor that could take an honest beating. My only complaint was the valve clearance inspection schedule. 600, then every 8k or so after that if I remember correctly. I put about 16k on it in 2 years and that was my only complaint. Otherwise, when you want something a little faster, just change the gearing and you'll get a quicker bike. Although in hindsight, a good used 600 race replica can be had just as cheap and would have much better brakes and handling.

Re: thinking of getting a 750 katana

Dont do it. There are way better beginner bikes to be had than the Kan-a-tuna. Ive only ridden two but hated both mind you these were 600cc models. They felt heavy underpowered and looked ugly. Atleast they were comfy but if thats all I wanted I would get a cruiser. I strongly recommend the SV650 for a first bike. But since it looks like you already have a bike then I would say get a 600 race replica or maybe SV1000.
