1982 GS 750 Clutch Problems

I am going to try the forums as a last resort

I have a 1982 GS 750 (Starter Bike), and I am having a couple of minor issues.

1) When I achieve about 60 mph, the bike really does not want to 'move' any more. When I apply throttle, it just revs up. And of course, from the start, it does not accelerate like a 750cc should from my exp. - Could this be something in my Clutch assembly?

2) My clutch level is pretty tough to pull on when I want to switch gears. I had a new clutch cable installed, and that was not the problem, but now I have a new clutch cable
I have taken apart the clutch assembly, and from what I can see how everything goes together, is that the crankshaft is being pushed on when I pull the clutch lever. Anyone ever have this issue or something similar? Please help this beginner rider with his starter bike!
