| 01 hayabusa backfires when cold hi, i have a 01 hayabusa which just started doing this crazy thing that is annoying the **** out of me, it all started after me changing the hydrolic chain tensioner to manual. after riding it for about a week it started doing this crazy thing when i start it if its cold or been sitting for few hours it would backfire and pops real bad and die out on acceleration so chock is out of the picture.... let it run on idle for about 10 mins and when it gets hot say temp guage in the middle runs fine no issue although when get real hot after riding it for good 2 hours turn it off and back on to start seems like battery is barely turning the motor over... after that i have checked every sensor, swaped ecu, swaped chain, check timming like million times, swaped cylinder head, swaped camms. but no luck at this point any advise pointing in the rite direction would be really appreciated... |

| Re: 01 hayabusa backfires when cold this all started when you changed the chain tensioner to a manual tensioner? and you started to swap all the parts? It sounds like your timing is off honestly, the starting hard when hot seems to be an advanced situation, but popping when cold is usually retarted timing, did you mess with any of the valve lash, do you have them too tight? |

pair valves removed & full yosh system on her.... have a pc3r installed was thinking maybe she is running way to rich thats why she backfire on cold. rite now i am trying to play with power commander manually and its not fun cauz after playing around between adjusting pc3r and running her she's all warmed up and the problem is gone. the only thing i have not swapped is the fuel pump so far.... i dont have the fuel pressure tester, you think fuel pump might be bad since it has a built in pressure regulator? |

| Re: 01 hayabusa backfires when cold how many miles ya got on it? Try to take the pc3 out of the equation plus you are playing with it manually so the buttons on the face? That can get tricky, if I remember the pc3r does ignition timing also so try to take it out of the loop and see what happens, if it improves, then you know the commander is mapped way wrong. |

| Re: 01 hayabusa backfires when cold i have less then 4k on her, and yes i have tried running the motor without pc3r no difference. last setup i did on pc3r manually was brought the low range down -4 and it ran little better less backfire but with the twist of the throttle motor just dies out. |

| Re: 01 hayabusa backfires when cold Have you tried it with the OEM tensioner?
Have you over-tensioned the tensioner?

| Re: 01 hayabusa backfires when cold If it was totally fine before the tensioner change, I think your valve timing has moved. Back firing, slow cranking are pretty good symptoms of this. Best to pull off the cover and check before serious damage occurs.
Then after that...go buy a Honda. Just teasing! |
