| Re: My 954 for 1000RR? (test wtr.) Thats a good deal... The 06/07 is much better than the 04/05 and the 954... I've had all of those bikes.. But I still think the 954 is probally the best all around street liter bike ever built.. You will be very happy with the 07, its 15lbs heaver than your 954 but has about 20 more hp.. The riding isn't as neutral but its comfortable IMHO.. |

| Re: My 954 for 1000RR? I own a 03.954 and have ridden my friends 1K. We both like the954 better. At first he tried to convince me that his was better... that is human nature... sort of like your married buddies trying to talk you into getting married. It makes them feel better that you too are in misery (or spent all that money like they did).
Just love your 954. Be the bike. Be one with the bike. You are your own master. |

| Re: My 954 for 1000RR? yea. the 954 definitly isnt a beginners bike. also, being your first bike, can you really compare it to other bikes? even if youve been on a 1000rr a few times, I dont think you really "know" your bike until youve been on it a lot of times and have riden it thru all types of terrain. ive had 4 bikes, 3 600s and my 954. i barely got to ride my 954 last season, but i know i love the power the thing puts out at low and high rpms. i can tell it def. needs a damper, so im tryin to find a good deal on one. also just got a high mount exhaust for it and took off most of the stock decals. i didnt like the Z's on the sides or the tail ones that covered most of the stock gun metal paint. so the only stickers left are the big RRs on the side fenders. Maybe you should consider trading down for a 05-06 600rr, also the 636 are very nice bikes. i had an 03 and loved it. they handle great and have great response, and are fast enough for a newer rider. i got mine up to 163mhp and it still had room to go. |

I dont really think a 2-4000 dollar difference matches the little difference in the way the bike rides. |

| Re: My 954 for 1000RR? glad you made your decision. if you look back through the posts you'll see that people who own 954's currently are trying to say how they are the better bike. and guys who have 1000rr's are saying that they are the better bike and some have even upgraded from the 954 (like me). my final point is that they are both kick ass bikes and i'd love to have my 954 back. i sold it for a stupid reason and it turns out i didn't even need to sell it in the long run. so.........how much for your 954? |

I'm still a noob and I've only had her for one year. | You're comparing the handling of a 954 with ten-inch extended swingarm to a stock 1000RR?????
Get rid of the swingarm extensions if you want the bike to handle.
When you say you've been riding it for a year what does that equate to in mileage?

| Re: My 954 for 1000RR? 954RR - suspension tuned by PPS. PCIII, 520 kit with -1 tooth on the front, full arata pipe and a tune = dusting most new liter bikes on a straight take off, and eat them alive in the canyons. Stock for stock though there isnt much of a difference that some riding schools and seat time wouldnt cure and make you faster. Save you some money as well.
Some people though...They need the ego trip and not the real deal. |

| Re: My 954 for 1000RR? I gotta say, My buddies all have 1000rr's. All of them have 06-07s and one guy has an 08. One by one, I have converted them all into 954 lovers. We all switch bikes once in a while and my bike is by far the favorite among all the riders. I wouldn't trade my bike for any of theirs. BTW, as far as speed goes. With the basics (PC3, full exhaust, 520), the 954 is the quickest of them all. The only disadvantage to the 954 is that it's too wheelie happy in first gear... |

| Re: My 954 for 1000RR? Just put a +10 rear sprocket. They will have a hell of a time catching you from 0-150mph . I was walking hard on a Suzuki TL1000 with a modded engine with my 954 /w +10 rear sprockets. I was impressed. He claimed to be pushing over 150hp. Which i think is more then me for sure. |

The kid who sold it to me was stunting it and said he wanted to sell it before he killed himself. I'm going back to close to stock cause it's just too much. I don't need to be doing power wheelies at quarter throttle. |

I'm still a noob and I've only had her for one year. | The 954 is lighter, and more nimble. I suspect you should go in and get your suspension rebuilt, head bearings serviced, and check your tire pressures before anything else. You do that and put a 520 kit -1 +2 on your bike you will be FASTER than most of the new liter bikes.
I keep up just fine with that setup and was a bit faster than others with newer bikes....Forcing them to take classes and get their suspensions done. My 954 way exceeds my riding ability and I have been at it for over 15 years. Its also a fairly rare ride, and one of the, if not THE lightest literbikes ever made. Going over to a 1000rr isnt going to solve your problems. |
