| My 954 for 1000RR? The title says it all. I wanna move up in CC's and year a lil bit. I've got an 02 Honda CBR 954 with a few mods. I love the bike but don't enjoy the ride. I'm young and all my buddies ride newer stuff and I'm always catchin flak so it's time to upgrade a lil bit. Here's a list of mods. The bikes not quite put together yet only because I'm waiting on parts and I go in for paint in two weeks. (The paint will not even see the streets if interested.) Here's a list of parts not installed until ready.
All black DB windscreen
Bought red windscreen bolts but I'm thinkin I wanna switch to gold
Gold Pazzo levers (on the way.)
Brand new

The bikes not quite put together yet only because I'm waiting on parts and I go in for paint in two weeks. (The paint will not even see the streets if interested.) This bike has about 13,000 miles on it. Been on two wheels since day one. I don't know how to wheelie and I really don't wanna know how. I just like to cruise. The previous owner was a 55 year old man that bought it brand new so enough said there. I let a buddy ride it that claimed he had all this exp. but slid out on a sandy corner doin like 10 miles an hour leaving a stop light. (Huge tool) I've replaced all that was thrashed already. Nothing to horrible. Here's a list of parts not installed until ready.

Gold Pazzo levers (on the way.)
Brand new frame sliders. (only thing installed.)
Waiting on a few replies on an exhaust. Can't decide on a hacked Two Bros C/F or a stainless Leo Vince B/O.
Hotbodies undertail
Swingarm extentions 10'' over stock. (powdercoated black swingarm
Gilles tooling rearsets (GOLD!!)
HyperPro damper. (GOLD!!)
Powdercoated black wheels. (Within time i will have gold Marchessini wheels)
The only thing that's being left on the bike thats still injured from the wipe out would be the headlight. Not to noticable.
Keep in mind guys this is just testing waters. This is the bike when it's all finished. When it does get finished, I'm sure I'd trade for a 1000RR. By that time it'll be such a nice ride to me that I won't wanna trade her. But you guys will help me out on that desicion . This is just to see if I'm wasting my time and just pay the bike off or roll with this and take my chances with trading it. Thanks for the time |

If you want a 1000cc bike then just hit the stealer. I personally dont know anyone that will trade the newer 1000rr for an older 954, but i dont know a million peole either. I dont know how good of a rider you are, but maybe if you tak'em through some curves and have a lil bit o experience they might want what you have, if they are about the same thing (you know, he got one, i want one kinda stuff) |

I'm not lookin for a NEWER 1000rr. I'm thinkin maybe like an 04 or 05 stock 1000rr but I understand what yer gettin at. Alot of people here in ND swear on the 954 and won't give theirs up to interested buyers. (I always seem to miss these guys.) How bout some offers guys. Just a lil feedback so when it's done and I'm ready to sell I know what people are lookin for in a price. I know, some words on a forum don't really do justice. I need pics. Help out please. |

| Re: My 954 for 1000RR? (test wtr.) i have had both. the 1000rr is a better bike imo. i've been riding m/c's for 16+ years and when i got the 954rr i was amazed. i loved it. rode the piss out of it too for about a year. i thought that i couldn't get a better bike for my style of riding. i was wrong. i bought a 1000rr and was even more amazed. it feels so good at speed under cornering and braking. alot of times i feel like the tires are glued to the road where during the same situation on the 954rr i could get loose or have the feeling of starting to.
the 954RR has a bigger trunk for sure but not much else that really matters compared to the 1000RR.
just my opinion though. i would still love to have my 954rr back! |

i don't think by any means though that the 954rr looks old.
there are several other improvements to the 1000 over the 954 as well. |

| Re: My 954 for 1000RR? (test wtr.) for reference,
i had a 2002 CBR954RR comletely stock. sold it in October/November 2007 with about 7000 miles on it.
i now have a 2006 CBR1000RR which is also completely stock and has about
7400 miles on it.
there is absolutely a huge difference between the bikes with or without a steering damper on the 954.
the 954 is a friggin wild animal when it comes to handling and power delivery. i loved it! personally i can't even believe Honda produced that bike without some sort of factory steering damper. it absolutely needs it to be stable at high speed. obviously, aftermarket is your main option there (ohlins probably makes great ones, maybe scotts too).
without a steering damper i don't believe the 954rr and 1000rr are even close. my 1000rr feels perfect in turns. as i stated before, there were many times when i was slipping or starting to lose traction on my 954rr where i do not even feel close to breaking traction on my 1000rr.
the 1000rr has more horsepower, dual stage fuel injection, better brakes, etc. more refinement equals a better bike. not totally true across the board but when Honda refines and tweaks something, they get it right.
just so you guys know i'm not partial or biased, i only sold the 954 because i bought a house and wanted some 'emergency cash in the bank' in case something happened. i would have kept the bike and never even considered a 1000rr because i was thoroughly satisfied with it. now i know what i would have missed! |

(and yes i got a pretty good deal) i got my 06 for just 6500 with only 6700 miles on it. so there are deals to be had out there.. you just have to find them.. find EVLTWN or something close to that on here.. he had a fantastic 04 that i almost got.. who knows he may still have it.. |

the 954 is alot lighter then the 04 and 05 1000rr and the 06 and 07 are still heaver then the 954. there is a thread on this board compairing the 08 to the 954 and the 954 is still 3lbs lighter. personaly i would not trade mine for anything i love the 954. buying a 954 for a first bike is not recomended you should look into trading down to something you can truly learn to ride on, and someone on a newer 600 with skills can usualy beat liter bikes on the track.
i ride what i want and dont care what others say or think. |

I've ridden the 1000RR and it feels a little less top heavy if you will. It's hard for me to explain, I havent been on it for a whole winter. Learn how to ride?
